Carpet backing tearing

I've had my boat for 4 years now. Bought it new. Each time I go to pull up the carpet in the salon to get into the engine compartment, more and more of the carpet backing stays glued to the fiberglass flooring and yesterday 50% of the 1/2" yellow foam backing is now torn off, and remains adhered to the fiberglas floor. What's Searay's position on this. My issue or their's. Thanks.

Do a search for threads on CSR on this issue. It is common and said to be worse where boats are used year-round and thus exposed to the elements more. Just today, I bought a spray can of rubber coating. That is supposed to be the solution, according to earlier threads. I don't think that Sea Ray will replace your carpet after four years.

I had the same problem.. bit the bullet and bought new carpet from one of our supporting vendors.

Mine is doing the same thing.:smt013 There has been a few beers spilled in the area where it is happening but I've taken the carpet home and used a carpet cleaner. :huh:
I have never had good success searching ,can someone attach a link to one of the earlier theads?

If it's gone too far, however, bite the bullet for new carpet.

A former Marine Max mechanic told me to get an old cotton sheet and cut it to shape of the salon carpet. Put it down first and then the carpet on top. It will keep the backing from sticking to the fiberglass
