Has anyone used searaycanvas.com for buying replacement canvas for their Sea Ray? If so, what was your experience?
Just checking opinions before I pull the trigger.

They are a re-seller - go strait to the source, great lakes canvas
+1!
I had to replace all the canvas and eisenglass on my new (to me) 2000 340 Dancer and they were awesome. Everything fit perfect and the price was right. http://www.greatlakesboattops.com They are the original supplier so they have all the patterns.

Also they are running a 20% off sale through June 10th.

Just a heads up. I ordered from great lakes over the winter and have had to send back 3 pieces already for stitches letting go. I have another one that let go but I'm sick of paying for boxes to ship back what should have just come right the first time. Any person or company can make mistakes and it's things happen but 4 seperate pieces of canvas have had stitches just pull out.

Quality just isn't there. Customer services was just ok at best. The person I spoke to on the phone seemed bothered when I told her I had problems with quality. I had to call back several times and leave messages.

When I called the last time I spoke with someone else who was actually extremely helpful and pleasant. I told him he should be the head of customer service training and he knew exactly what I was talking about.

The fitment is absolutely perfect though. I was amazed at how everything lined up but I will repair anything else that happens on my own. I would order again from them but I will have anything fixed locally.

Many folks here have had great success with GLBT, their customer service was top notch for me and the stitching was fine for me. (They even sent me extra snaps free so I could match a project.) It is entirely possible that that all your canvas was sewn by the same machine or person that unknowingly malfunctioned. If this was a normal for them I'd be the first to say, such as when Vector, the dash panel maker, fell apart. Their reputation here is and has been consistently good for OEM canvas. (It is not custom, but not custom priced.)

+1 on the service. I called the other day to buy 50 snaps. I have never bought a thing from them and they shipped me 50 snaps at no charge, I have so many I am sharing with dock neighbors that need them too. I asked for a quote to do the whole boat...camper to curtains and the quote came in at $3500 ($1000 off). I also priced local companies and they are at least double the price. My current canvas is original with the boat so at least 9 years old. It is just now starting to have stitching issues. I think that's pretty good life...will be getting new set next season and it will be from GLBT.

I was giving the heads up because it may be a current trend to save money on a less quality thread or it was a machine problem. Actually it was more likely a machine or worker problem because the thread never failed but the stitch did. The real problem was the 2 women I dealt with who were aweful on the pho.e and very judgmental and pointed the finger at me like I must have installed something wrong when I had a problem with their product.

Like I said before, I would order from them again but it was more of a hassle to return for warranty work and I would have repairs done locally. The fitment was and is perfect. The price cannot be beat. I bought everything that they made for our boat including the metal supports and hull mounting hardware and could not be happier with the price and fitment but just wanted to share my experience because it was contradictory to what I have read on here. Don't know if it is the direction of the company or if I had really bad luck and dealt with the only one or two bad eggs in the company. Very possible.

I bought canvas this spring from a GLBT re-seller. We have a boat that was built in the now closed Phoenix plant and GLBT won't sell directly. The agreement with the reseller is that exact fit is not warrantied.

That being said we had bad seams, pieces that were clearly mis-sewn, and zippers that were not centered. Just plain bad workmanship. We went into this with the help of a local canvas shop with the plan that modifications would be required so we weren't over concerned about the quality issues.

Had I bought the stuff directly with the full warranty I would be absolutely bulls__t at this point.

I'm surprised with the lack of quality from Great Lakes I'm seeing here. Everything I've read previous to this has been positive.

I'm going on my second season with a full set of canvas from them and it has been all good so far. I guess no one (company) is infallible.

They have many patterns, but not all. My father inlaw called them for patterns for his 98 270DA. They didn't have them.

We both used a local shop, and it was very reasonable for a high quality product that was better than the original in many ways.

They have patterns for what Sea Ray contracted with them to make. For a while SR was using a company from AZ, as Henry noted. Then things ended ugly and the patterns were destroyed.

My replacement set from GLBT (via a reselling agent) fit perfectly. Zero issues with fit or quality.
