Canvas person recommendation on the North Coast of Ohio wanted!

Hello,

We keep our boat on Catawba Island. We're looking for someone that can sew canvas.

We have the canvas. I can cut it to size. I can install the snaps on the canvas(snaps are already installed on boat side). I can install the finished product on the boat. What I/we can't do, is sew, nor do we have the equipment.

We are trying to find someone that will sew the edge or hem the edge of the canvas after I cut it to size. We are wanting to make a front window/cockpit cover for our boat. You know, the kind that covers the front of the window and then wraps around the sides a little to cover the angle of the side windows!

Any help or direction would be much appreciated! We are obviously willing to pay for the service. We'd also be willing to pay for everything, but I thought that I could do the fitting, cutting and installation to help out and expedite the procedure.

BTW, Cincinnati is only a 5 hour drive from where we live at in Michigan! It may be closer from Catawba...

I had some canvas work done across from midway marina, she was very good and fast. She was very reasonable. Can't remember the name of the shop. Very good and knowledgeable.

We were in the area yesterday and saw this shop on Rt 163 just east of Rt 269. http://www.shepherdcanvas.com/

Not sure of their quality or price - just thought of your post when we drove by.

If you can't find anyone reasonable in the area, we have a couple Amish owned/operated shops down here in Apple Creek (near Wooster) and Ashland. I've used the one in Apple Creek - Kansas Road Tarp Shop - and they do good work at very reasonable prices. I've heard the same about Ashland Tarp Shop.

If you can deliver and pickup, then go Amish. Head down to Bucyrus, Mansfield, Ashland, etc. The amish down in those areas are 50% less expensive and do amazing canvas work. A friend of mine had his entire 340 cockpit upholstery redone for something ridiculous like $2k and it was an absolute piece of artwork.

If you want to stay local and work in Catawba, then you can do no better than Shawn Harrison at Custom Canvas and Upholstery on 269.

I am happy with their work.

We saw what we didn't know was Northcoast Canvas on Saturday evening while we were having dinner at Crosswinds with some friends! We saw the sign that said CANVAS and had a picture logo, but no company name. It looks like it is a camper/car/boat dealership as well.
