Can't teach stupid... - Idiot Boater

There is just something about fisherman that triggers power boaters.... why are they always in the way :)

Yeah, it's almost like a couple hundred fishermen decide to stop their boats and fish in the middle of a high traffic area and then wonder why boats don't slow down for them.

If I go buy on plane 150 yards away I get the finger and MF'd. If I slow down to 1800 RPMs, throw a huge wake, and pass by at 50 yards, they all smile and wave.

I got the finger the other day going from Port Clinton to the island.... and I was more then 200 yards away.... I must have been scaring the fish :)

I have to admit this drives me nuts. Especially our channels when you have to go through a cut. They will sit out in the middle of the channel with no where to go. Go fish somewhere else!

I certainly agree with you guys. Nothing bugs me more than coming into my home marina. Almost EVERY time there is somebody fishing in the middle of the channel and they decide to move at the last second.

However, this guy was being way over aggressive and making power boaters look bad

What an ass hat ! If you’re driving through a pack of fisherman like that you’re an asshole, if you turn around and go back-and-forth through a pack a fisherman ......that’s why we keep 5 ounce sinkers close to the helm

I call them covidiots. Lots of new boaters out there who have discovered that boating is a great way to socially distance, and a really poor way to reveal any intelligence.

This very past weekend, I was tooling along at about hull-speed when a similarly equipped idiot came flying by me on plane and about 30 feet off my port stern. I laid on the horn so hard I almost quacked him to death. I had to turn sharply into his wake just to keep from being tossed.

Actually, around here the way fisherman act as if they own the waters, drifting and anchoring in the middle of the channel and inlets, I'd invite this asshat to offer his services around here.:D

I don't condone this person's actions. But, I can understand where he might be coming from. We anchor out on inland lakes in posted idle zones. Sometimes we are a lone boat. Sometimes there are 10-12 cruisers tied up. These jacken-apes in their glitter rockets get a shotgun start at the boat ramp.(obvious idle zones) 30 of them hit plane in 50ft and turn a glass bay into a raging ocean at 5am going 80-90mph. They have no regard for the damage they do to cruisers tied together or waking the families aboard. While the rage of this has caused me to think of pulling anchor and setting my 240 to plow and circle these bastards, I have refrained........so far.

Can't say I agree with you guys. Agree to disagree :D

There's a difference between throwing a bit of wake to some fisherman in a channel but this guy was just deliberately being an asshole lol

I've only owned a boat for 5 years.. so maybe my opinion will change! haha

I guess you would call this "boat rage", assuming the moron used the behavior of the fisherman as his justification. Either way, putting others' lives at risk to make a point is just as stupid (if not more) on the water, as it is on the road.

I totally disagree with anyone who thinks that was legal or not a complete A-hole. That is rice lake, Ontario. It is a relatively small recreational lake, that is famous most for —FISHING! It is on the Trent-Severn system that is part of the great loop.

The guy went back and forth among boaters legally anchored and fishing deliberately to make wakes and torment fisherman. The guy was an f-n moron.

It’s a wave... lighten up..... and if you look not a single person was wearing a life jacket.... that’s the real crime here :)

And who said it wasn’t a crime.... it actually isn’t a crime.... unless there is damage or someone gets hurt.... asshole move yes but that’s it

I agree with creekwood. Most guys that own cigarette boats just own them to make up for a certain body part that is small anyway! That or he had roid rage
