I have a 26' Sea Ray Express. I believe it's a 1979 with a 350 in it. I cannot get this boat on plane. Does anyone have any ideas on what prop to use?

Thank you

There is a long list of things it could be? Have you considered all the obvious things like a dirty bottom, damaged prop, etc? Please provide some more info so we can get you some good answers. What RPM's can you get, is the fule clean, is your filter clean, etc etc etc. Lots of variables.

Searay on plane

You Should also check to be sure your hub is good. The hub could be bad, therefore you're just spinning the hub ,not the prop. You would hear the engine reving but it would sound like the prop is cavitating.

I have a 1979 Sea Ray Sundancer (aft cabin express cruiser) I have gone thru many props and the best I found was a 16" diameter 14 pitch. Gave me good jump onto plane and water toy towing, good speed as well as proper Wide open throttle RPM .That should be 4200-4600 for your boat. The trick is to be able to get the engine to rev at least 4200 rpm.
I would think definately No more than 15" pitch. My prop was( I hit rocks) a 48-16438a40 quicksilver merc type. The michigan wheel # is 31050.
I tried a 15 x 15 4 blade and took it back, to steep of pitch.
I replaced it with a 15 1/2 x 15 3 blade and my rpms are down a little, but that should change as I'm in the process of dropping in a new engine. I had leakage in my stringers that the engine sits on and the alignment suffered, causing outdrive coupler failure, had to yank the engine to replace.
Good luck
