Jim. Since you are being "invaded" by all us newcommers from SRO, could you post a little piece on the history of the board? I think it would be real helpfull for the new folks. And what is the affiliation with byowneryachts.com that shows up in the URL?

I also want to thank you too for being so accomodating and responsive with changes. So far everything looks great!

Thanks.

Hi Dave, I've been answering this alot lately :p

Here is some of what I already typed up:

""Hi thunderbird, its not controlled by Brunswick. Its just sitting on our server. Who are we? We have a yacht brokerage company and marine electronics business. Because of the nature of our yacht brokerage company we sell a tremendous amount of used Sea Rays. at the end of '03 some customers started asking us where they can find info about sea rays online because they knew I was very heavy into particpating in online forums like boatus or tht. I honestly had no idea where to send them so I promised I would open them up a forum on our server. In early '04 I did that. In '05 or so I learned about SRO which was certainly a thriving community. I have never tried to compete with SRO, in fact there has never been a mention of it on CSR or vice versa. Since our site had a lt of info I have just left it up. It gets a few posts a day and certainly has a bunch of registered members. If every Sea Ray owner under the sun ends up there, that would be great, if nobody shows up thats OK too because we don't make any money from it. But I do plan to leave it up and I will invest whatever resources are necessary if there is interest. If the SRO guy wants to send me the data from his server to stick up there I would certainly do it."

and...

"Hi Presentation. The server is owned by By Owner Group which operates BOE Marine and By Owner Yachts. BOE sells marine electronics and By Owner Yachts (BOY) offers innovative yacht brokerage programs. You'll see way down at the bottom of the main page we have some support forums for both companies. In reality, most people email us so these forums have not been very productive. We have some new software we are integrating into BOY that will be much more effective than the forums were so they will likely go away in a month or so. We will be heavily promoting our marine electronics forum when we launch a new version of boemarine.com so we will likely move those forum to another server, unless of course they end up being used by CSR folks in which case we will leave them here. I will likely officially move these Sea Ray forums to their domain officially instead of piggy backing on our BOY domain if the forum gets popular with you guys. I've told a bunch of other people that we will dedicate the resources to give you guys and gals with Sea Rays a nice place to hang out, and keep it All Sea Ray All the time!

Even if this forum sees a boatload of traffic it will still always remain free because it is just a very small part of our online activty. Thanks for coming!"

I think I touched on the domain name above. But if everybody sticks around and activity increases I will put the Forum on the www.clubsearay.com domain instead of the byowneryachts domain. If you want to post links to specific parts of the site in the meantime just right click on the title of the thread and choose "copy link location" or "copy shortcut" then paste the link to wherever you want to put it.

Oh yeah, I have four usernames on here: ByOwnerBroker, yachtjim, BOEmarine and admin. Depends on if I am answering a question, or if its forum related or just as me with some info I can contribute, etc. Sometimes somebody else from our co. might log in as ByOwnerBroker or BOEmarine if they see something they can answer so its not always me, but usually is. The ByOwner forums will be going away soon so the ByOwnerBroker username will probably go into mothballs.

Jim, That's wonderful news, since I'm sure that the new activity will use up more of your computer resources. Thanks again.

Are you the same Jim i bought my new garmin 478 from(hull truth) this last June(I talked with you several x's & changed my order)? JC FROM SE KENTUCKY.

I guess we'll have to "tone down" the anti-broker rants and discussion of how to haggle w/ the sales folks.
