Ok..I know the question about "how to open or close the hatch once the batteries have been removed" has been asked before. I understand that I can purchase a 12 Volt DC Power Pack, however I was wondering about the AC convertor. If I plug the shore power in and turn on the AC convertor, will I have power for the hatch? or do the batteries need to installed to complete a circuit?

Just wondering if I have other options. Sorry if I am beating a dead horse, I did a search, but couldnt find anything.

You would have to connect the +/- leads from the charger/converter directly to the leads for the panel that powers the hatch (sans the batteries); obviously you're going to need to trace some wiring to figure that out. Don't see why it wouldn't work otherwise, and as long as you don't screw up polarity it can't hurt to try it...

I would not recommend utilizing the charger without a battery load unless the manufacture indicated it was OK. A possible overvoltage condition could exist that might damage some electronics.

If you need to open the hatch without batteries try and get a portable "jump start" battery and jumper it into the 12V outlet in the cockpit. This is what MarineMax told me to do.

Most of the new chargers detect battery connection and condition (and charge harder on the dead one). If you don't have posts next to the battery switches, I'm going with the jump starter in the lighter socket. :smt001
