I have a 2007 310 DA with the original NorthStar 6000 plotter and SC5000 SmartCraft display. I've been trying to figure out my upgrade choices.

One goal is to get SmartCraft data on the plotter display. From what I've read, what makes sense is to ditch the SC5000 and replace it with a Mercury Vessel View Link module. This allows Simrad and Lowrance plotters to basically work as a Vessel View MFD (same features and displays, as far as I can tell) via NMEA2000.

My dash appears to have room for TWO 9" MFDs after removing the NorthStar and the SC5000. It would be nice to have a dedicated display for VesselView/SC display as 9" is kind of small for split-screening. The cheaper option seems to be to get one Evo3 9" as primary plotter/sonar unit and one XSE-9 to use as primarily for Vessel View data.

Since both units share the same NMEA2000 network, I'm curious if they can share any information? Can I put up the map from the Evo3 on the XSE? Sonar data from the Evo3? My guess is that I'm not the first person to think of using the cheaper model as a second display and they don't allow sharing of any data. Both should be able to display SmartCraft data as it's sourced from NMEA2000.

But it would be beneficial to be able to do full screen sonar on the XSE (transducer connected to the Evo3) and full screen map on the Evo3 or other combinations. Do I need a seperate map chip for the XSE?
