I am refurbishing my 2001 Sea Ray 310 DA. In the cabin I am removing the dinette configuration and replacing it with bench seating similar to the more modern models of this boat type. In front of the bench seat I want to mount a table on a pedestal. However, the position of the pedestal base will be above an inaccessible area of the boat, i.e. it is beyond the starboard wall of the floor storage space below the cabin floor.
I want to know if I can sink a hole and drill into this area from the floor of the cabin to mount the pedestal base which will probably require to protrude about 3 inches below floor level or is there something in there that could be damaged. Does anyone know ? By tapping in the area of my proposed work it sounds hollow.
