I bought my 260DA new in 2000, and have had problems putting up the camper top from day one. I'm looking for tips, or alternative ways to secure it, specifically where it connects to the windshield frame. Any advice, or photos would be very helpful. I've actually stopped trying to install it because it is 1. too difficult, and 2. never stays connected

Did you try a search? This has been covered a few times.

But, two main things you need to do - and then it's actually pretty easy:

1) be sure to extend the rear legs of your bimini
2) spray/wipe a generous amount of vinyl cleaner/protectant on the rubber "gasket" that goes into the window channel

Oh, and be sure to insert the the longer edge of the gasket (the gasket looks like a "T" when viewed from the side) first. Meaning, slide the "T" up into the top of the channel, then push from the outside so it snaps into the bottom of the channel.

In addition to what Lazy Daze posted, I have found it best to let everything hang from the top & to start from the windshield & work your way back. I struggled with this for quite a while but now I'm reducing my time with every install.

If you use the advanced search feature you'll find plenty of threads on this topic. I believe in one of them, changing to snaps is discussed. I for one love the fit of the J channel in the front & side glass. It looks better than snaps and certianly performs better.
