I’m having a local canvas guy make the camper canvas/window curtains for my 240SD with the factory bimini and have a couple of questions for those of you with some experience with these.

I am going to have zip out sections with screens on the sides and back. Is it better to have the zip out windows permanently attached at top (and roll up to get some ventilation) or attached at the bottom (and roll down)? I believe the factory canvas windows for the 240SD are attached at the bottom and roll down, but most of the photos I’ve found of zipper windows roll up. What do you all think works best?

This canvas guy normally uses a nylon screen material for the screen windows, but it seems a little stiffer and thicker than the screen windows on the factory curtains. Does anyone know what screen material is used on the factory curtains?

I just had my aft curtain modified to add the screen.
The type they added is more durable looking and the canvas guy told me is a much better material than the factory.
I'm happy. It looks good and should work as intended. Mine will roll up though.

I've got the factory 240SD camper. Yes is has roll down windows. Works good for us. Not sure what type of screen, but it does seem to be thicker than standard screen. Todd, how do you get good cross ventilation if you don't have side windows that you can open? Do you run with just aft windows open? I'm sure you know about CO and aft windows only.

Oh my side ones have the mesh too, they're still the factory type though. On those windows I just replaced the isenglass

Top or bottom should depend on the geometry of the window. Our 280 has the windows attached at the bottom. When it comes time to replace my thought is to go with the clear attached at the top. In our case the window is wider at the top than at the bottom. When we try to roll the window, the length of the roll is longer than the space available.

Henry,
My 240DA has the roll-down type. My 320DA has the roll-up type. IMO, the roll-up is better from practical use point of view. With roll-down type we usually unzip them 1/2 way so the hanging part is not too low and is not getting in the way. If I unzip all the way and roll the isenglass it unrolls eventually since there's nothing to keep it in place.

So, in 320DA you can roll-up the whole thing, since it has the straps to keep them locked, and have much better ventilation. Todd's picture shows those straps. I guess, the only disadvantage (if it is) you have to roll the isenglass all the way up in order to secure it with straps. So, I think rolling up 1/2 way is not an option, unless other folks have a trick for this.

If it was my choice I would do the roll-up type.

Good luck.
Alex.
