Anyone been cruising the river from Ft. Myers to La Belle? Looking to take a short rive cruise tomorrow and wanted to check on potential problems. I know that Lake O isn't the greatest, but I was hoping that this side of the Lake would be good...

I've not looked recently but you need to check the lock schedules unless your only going to the lock and then back.

They had changed them to operate 2 times a day because of the levels in the lake.

The last time I checked the lake was actually on fire (go figure) and the water in both channels was lower then 3-4ft and made it impassable for most boats.

If the levels ever come back up I'd love to do a cruise from one coast to the other and then spend the night or a couple of days and come back.

Would be a good get to gether for all the smaller boaters but right now with the lake O the way it is your better off with an air boat.

Yeah, i'm with you. It would be a great smaller boat cruise. I too heard that the lake was on fire. I wouldn't even be getting close to Lake O. Our jumping off point would be in the neighborhood of where I75 crosses the Caloosahatchee through the Franklin lock to La Belle. Total one-way trip distance approx 25 miles. We would still technically be on the river I think. I'll have to call the Army Corp for details...

I spent four years on the Caloosahatchee, but it was the US Navy ship, not the river itself.
That was my useless piece of information for the day.
