Calling Frank and other diesel experts

My brother and I had a crayfishing operation and ran a boat with the Cat 3208 in the 425hp config driving a Hamilton jet unit and experience no problems. Being an ali jet boat with a fairly flat dead rise it planed easily and so we could keep the revs down to achieve speed and fuel economy. In the busy part of the season, the boat would have done 60 to 70 hours a week. Loved the sound of the turbo'd 3208 and the rooster tail of the Hamilton jet unit.

In other news I also owned a 2 litre pinto powered Ford Escort RS2000 for 11 years. Initially stock until the hex oil pump drive rounded and I lost oil pressure at 4000 rpm resulting in a crank and rods that were too badly galled to reuse. I then rebuilt and modded the pinto motor myself (base on David Vizards books) doubling the rwhp, fitted a Sierra 5 speed from the UK and the car ran faultlessly for the next 9 years.

Back to boats......
