Calling all 360 DA owners

After a lot of prep work and about 2 hours of work !
We were able to unbolt the pan from the floor and the vibration pad from the generator
Disconnect the fuel supply and exhaust hose
Slide the unit out to clear to the lifting eye
hook up the chains to the lifting Eye
separate the old pan
place the new Pan and vibromounts, torque all bolts.

And Voila ! new pan installed !
while the unit is still not resting in it final place, we are replacing all rubber hoses, fuel lines, sensors..... prior to installing the new sound enclosure.
I m hoping the vibration will be greatly reduced with the new vibromount and quieter with the addition of the new sound enclosure. last year we replace the muffler and added a secondary muffle. Expectations is a sub 30 decibel generator!

I got to say the old pan essentially crumble in pieces when removed !

Hello MI,

I tip my hat to you as I know there is little room to operate around there. Great job! Since you used a chain on the lifting eyes, did you still need the small jack.

I love this site!

Regards,

D

I didn't see how it could fit , but I was hoping it would !

Exhaust and both mufflers had to be removed
Ounce the unit is slid out to clear the lifting eyes, you have about 2” max of clearance
Lots of back and forth repositioning onto the new brackets

both of my rear mounts were rusted thru, 1 completed broken off- the other one was on its way to separate.
Hate to see what happens when no fix point remains on the generator legs

Couple questions. What is the history of the boat as far as fresh or salt water? Sounds like you might have had a servere leak on the back side?

Thanks in advance,

D

boat was in southern Florida from 2006 to 2021 !
very well possible, assuming that a leak was present, sea. water would evaporate and leave just salt behind eating away at the metal.

Upon further investigation found the small hole in the raw water hose in the rear which was spraying the alternator and dripping down the pan
Needless to say the alternator requires replacement !

Because we are installing a sound enclosure which will render the access even more fun
The decision to replace all soft products (hoses, gasket…) and sensors that will be hard to reach on the generator including the exhaust pipe ……
Probably overkill but not looking to crawl back there again innthe forseeble futur !

All parts has been ordered, advertised lead time 1-5 business days from order ! Been already 7 hopefully Kolher hurray up!
More to come soon

Can't blame you for not wanting to do this again as I remember all to well how much work it was for what I did. And have done even more.
Did you have to take off anything from the starboard engine for better access?

yes complicated but I suspect many has same issue just not noticed yet if that hose was never replaced
Hopefully all. This work will last few years down the road
Generator muffler
Engine Complete exhaust pipe , mufflers ….
Taking advantage of the roomy engine room to replace the autopilot back there and install underwater lights ….

Looking for some advice as to how to remove the wood trim panel on the front of the forward master berth.
Thanks in advance.

What are you trying to get at that is behind there?

Mainly to clean the dust that’s accumulated there from the air intake on the AC. The vacuum only reaches so far and a swifter doesn’t get everything. Again, just trying to clean the area.

Been a while though I would provide all of ya an update
still working on the generator... ending up replacing quite a few components in additional to all hoses and rubber goods
-New water pump housing including the bracket
-New Alternator
-New fuel pump and bracket
-New Fuel filter housing (damaged during lifting if gene)
-fuel injector cleaned
-NEwAll of the sensors (hi temp low pressure..)
-descaling of the heat exchangers...
-New starter

this took longer than expected especially considering the longer lead time on Kohler parts
I hoping this will resolve some our issues and considerably extend the life span of our generator as it has underwent major upgrades and maintenance !

I m hoping by next Thursday, it will be ready for a fire up and that no major leak or issues occurs !
this will allow to finally install the sound enclosure and wrap up the rest of the on going work before the imminent season !

Does anyone know the shaft diameter on the 360? I need to get a set of Zincs for my diver and I am not sure what size to get for the shafts. I think the ones on the trim tabs are 5" and the hull zinc can just be a slotted unless someone has a source they can send me to order them. I checked the Sea Ray parts manual and didn't see the Zincs listed.

Mine are 1 1/2" on my 2002, and would expect yours to be the same. I buy them in sets of two, for an extra on hand. I use BoatZincs.com and the shaft anodes are item X-7AL, the Rudder / Trim Tab are R-4A (5" Diam) and the Hull is
DP-621A. $191.96 for my last order in November.
Hope that helps,
Bill Watson

Below is a copy of my invoice order from Boatzincs.com with all the info you need to make your order.

@Bill Watson @Searageous thanks for the information, exactly what I needed! I placed my order with Boatzincs as the prices are 1/2 of the local West Marine.

What is everyone's thought on Aluminum vs Zinc in Salt Water? I went with Zinc since that is what I have been using, but they seem to be getting hard to find locally.
