Calling all 360 DA owners

Ok well change the alternator at the first opportunity that's how mine left me with an issue. The saltwater got some drippage and wasted the bearing and started on the other internals.

You guys aren't going to believe this. Heck I DON'T BELIEVE THIS!!

So I get a call that the second long block 8.1 (in two months) is finished and test run and its ready to go come and take her away. I'm beside myself! Do you mean that I can ACTUALLY pilot my boat?? So I go down and get the send off and I head out out of the harbor about 1.5 miles and LOW AND BEHOLD my old friend the Smartcraft (car idiot light style) starts beeping and its throwing an alert on it. So I call the lead Mechanic and he says "can you come back in" Ok 2-3ft chop wind is blowing 15-20 and they have a VERY crowded dock with rikety fingers and zero hull protection. But I bring it back and he plugs in with the computer and he says its the alert horn on the starboard motor is not working and its ok he will order a replacement and I'd be good for the holiday weekend to enjoy the boat after being down 2 MONTHS. So we head back out in the breeze and get 4 miles from out home port and all of a sudden the PORT motor the one we replaced last month was low on RPMs and came off plane. I called him back and being slightly elevated asked him if he wanted me to make the trek back, he said no that he would come to my home marina in the morning. He did and scanned the engine and came up with the ECU for the port motor has burnt up and needs to be replaced. He also said that they run about $2300 plus labor of like 30 min. So he is calling Merc after the "HOLIDAY" weekend.

Thanks Jeff,

Well the ECU's are on National Backorder, so at the end of the season I can only imagine it will be a few months before i see one.

I suggested that and my mechanic said he has had and heard of issues in their service. I think he's just not wanting to use them. But now he says there is something he wants to try while were waiting. I'm so tired of losing 2 months of my 3 month boating season the past two years.

So, looking for ideas on how to transfer the large storage area above the galley sink where the old tube style tv/VCR sat. The previous owner changed to a 19" flat screen, but put a mounting bracket hanging from the top of the opening, so the tv pivots up - and not very much. I have zero access to the large area, and can see great potential for storage. I just don't know of a good way to mount the tv there, and still be able to put a DVD player in there, and hinge the tv far enough out of the way to make is usable. Keeping in mind that I want the TV solid enough so that it doesn't bounce up and down while under way in any type of sea condition.
Thoughts? Ideas? Would love to know what others have done in this area.....

We have an espresso machine in ours. 110v. Have it held in place with a webbing strap. Don't watch TV, do drink espresso.

I used a bracket that swings the flatpanel to the right and it works perfect. There is pics on our blog and in this thread somewhere

So I found the picture of the bracket on your blog (Dozen Shuck), and read that you have the TV strapped with a bungee cord. Does the bracket keep the TV from bouncing? It looks like that would be a lot of stress on the side of the cabinet where the bracket is attached. I see how it works though, and it would sure open up the cabinet for additional storage...

Hi J,

no the flat panel is really light and I stepped up the washers on the front and back side so they have more of an area to spread the hold on to. Yeah the bunjai cord is really hokey but no one can see it and it works so.....

Thanks for the feedback. Will be heading out over Christmas break to look at this again, and see what I want to do.

Sounds good, have a Great Christmas!

So.......
Looking to replace my Zodiac. Mine is a 1999 Futura - still in excellent shape. Problem is it's too long for the platform. length of Zodiac is 11'2". This has been discussed in earlier posts, so I won't rehash it.
However, Zodiac now has an aluminum hull version. Much lighter than the RIB fiberglass. And at a lower price point. Question is, does anyone have any experience with aluminum hull tenders? If you look up the Zodiac website, they have a good write up about it (of course). I like the light weight of it, but not sure of the durability.
Thoughts appreciated...

Looking at making the big step up from a Mastercraft ski boat to a 2004 SR 360DA. I've enjoyed reading the posts on this site and would like to see if anyone would offer some pro's/con's about getting into a 2004 SR 360 or any specific questions I might want to ask the current owner. I'm new to cruisers so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Honestly RW, it is a GREAT starter cruiser. Plenty of room and the smallest hull that they put the 8.1's in. Back in the day we went from a 20 ft SeaRay Bow rider to this and its a piece of cake handling. The 360 is honestly a great craft because you get the bigger motors, much more room than the 340 and smaller and faster than the 380.

My only suggestions are HAVE IT SURVEYED, HAVE IT SURVEYED and HAVE IT SURVEYED!! Find a local guy that multiple people endorse. It will be the best money you will ever spent. I'm sure you can get quite few referrals on this forum or The Hull Truth. Let us know how it goes.

And congrats on your first post IN the 360 thread

Thanks for your comments. You seem to be very passionate about your 360. I've enjoyed reading your posts as well as the info on your blog.

Yeah I am, not overboard but passionate lol! We've had a lot of ups and downs but its well worth it in my opinion. I'm glad you like the blog, I don't keep it up as much as I should but whe I was looking around there was a guy that did a blog on his 34 Rubber duckie 2 if I remember correctly and he is a wealth of knowledge for me (he's here on the forums too). My boats biggest issue was that it sat on the hard for 2.5 years and was forgotten about. It went through hurricane Sandy on land and covered and was fine but I cant help thinking that just sitting and not running the systems and motors took its toll when I got her and cranked her back up to full service duty. But I'm telling ya its going to be a GREAT 2018 boating season. Heck we have a fully re-worked craft and she is ready for some adventures!!!

Merry Christmas RW.
