Calling all 360 DA owners

Any 360 owners have any experience with Camper en-closers? I have seen them on the 370's and 380's but none on a 360?

I have a 2005 360DA which is relatively new to me. Looking for some feedback on speed & RPM at WOT & the same at cruising RPM of 3200.

Published WOT of the 8.1 base motor is 4400 to 4600 rpm.
Mine runs just over at +/- 4750, and reads 37 mph +/-
We just were out on the lake for 10 days, and here are some readings from the smartcraft screens for comparison.
the boat was loaded heavily as you can imagine for a 10 day cruise. These shots were taken when the fuel load was at about 90% and the water tank was full.
I can't accurately say what it does at 3200 rpm, because to be honest, the efficiency there stinks and I don't run it there. I have the info written down for that on the boat.
The sweet spot on ours is between 3500 and 3600. and that is where we usually run it when it's heavy. We run 3400 to 3500 when it's not.
We were in open lake, conditions were flat calm.

When we got back to buffalo on Saturday, we filled up and ran the numbers against miles on the trip log, and it came out .78 mpg. That is total gallons purchased on the trip, divided into miles on the trip log. Includes idle time and genny (only about 5 hours total on the gen)

Take care

We do not have a camper on ours, but I did on our 330, and we are missing not having it. There are various types of camper packages available, they are after market affairs, as they were not offered from the factory. I have seen many of these "taylor made" ? type as shown in this '03 360 that is for sale on our dock. I do not personally care for the "look" of this, (just my opinion) although the room inside is quite nice.
I am having a local canvas installer look at our boat this weekend to see what they can offer. I will keep you posted.
Take care

We had custom replacement canvas made for our 360 when we bought it in Dec 2009. It's not camper back, but we opted instead to increase the window area to make it feel more open. Shorter people can sit at the table when the canvas is up - I am 6 ft and can't, but it still works for us.

my3sons I agree on the Taylor Made one, just not to my liking. In the 370 thread a few boats have a cantilevered options that does not add any additional down supports on the aft end, very nice. Please let me know what your canvas guy says. La Maddalena like the mod to the aft curtain, I was thinking of that option as well, If you don't mind me asking what did it cost?

With my 8.1's I average right around .7 mpg at 3200 rpms

I'm a newby here so take it easy on me. I'm in my 4th year with my '03 360 Sundancer "Eyes of Texas". Has anyone ever found a fuse on the AC power going to the battery charger? My Converter/Charger doesnt have power, but I can't find a fuse on the line. I've read, not in the manual, that there is a fuse and most service techs don't even know about it. Thanks!

I don't have an answer to your question but I love the name of your boat. You don't have a problem with the name boating in Oklahoma?

Thanks Mark. We've only had the dinghy / davit for 2 weeks but we really enjoy it. The block and tackle lines across the swim platform are a little awkward, but this was the best solution I could come up with that retained the majority of the swim platform for easy access to the transom locker and barbeque.

I have a question for you 360DA owners. I looked at a 2005 360DA over the weekend. I was trying out the "batman" shower. The doors were very stiff to slide around. Is this normal or does the track need to be lubricated? The 360DA is a very nice size. The 8.1s seem to be great motors in that size boat. I was very impressed with how it jumped out of the hole.

La Maddalena, Being a Horns fan in Oklahoma is a little rough. Everytime I back into my slip I crank up 'Texas Fight' followed by 'The Eyes of Texas', which finishes just as I kill the engines. The Sooner fans on my dock scramble to retaliate with Boomer Sooner. After 4 yrs they have started watching for me coming in. It's hilarious.

I gotta figure out the charger issue!

Welcome, fellow teasip! (doctoral degree in '05...)

Having been at many home games from '99-'06, I would gladly have traded Mack Brown and Greg Davis for Bob Stoops.

It is rather amusing that you are armed with your alma mater's fight song...on the boat!

We use our "batman" shower alot and it had gotten very diff to move. I used alot of fresh water from the shower head and an old toothbrush {didn't use soap}. After it had dried completely, I then spayed some silcone on the track and slid the doors to spread the silcone around. Will repete as often as I clean sump out. Every other month.

Good luck!

I checked out our "batman" shower on Sunday. We have actually never used it - yet. But it slides around easily and smoothly. It's possible the previous owner never used it either - he kept the boat at his house on Lake Washington and may not have overnighted much.

Good day all! Im in Hammond, Indiana. We have a small fraternity of SR club members here. Purchased my 360DA in 2007.

Took the boat out a few days ago but too rough to get a good speed/fuel burn run. We've had a few tropical waves pass thru so weather has been crap, hoping to get her out in a few days and I'll get back with some fuel/speed info.

Got a quick question: Tinkering around the boat today and noticed the horn wasn't working. I reset the breaker at the box below the wheel but no luck. Anybody change out the breakers here, any info would be great as I'm no handyman.

The canvas shop came out and measured it up about 10 days ago and recommended the cantilever aft shade, adding about 2 or 2 1/2 feet onto it so that we have enough room to sit comfortably in the aft bench when the aft curtain is up. She will price it for zippered screen sections in the rear center and side sections behind the arch. Seamark fabric, 40 mil glass, and goretex thread. She should be getting back to me soon on the cost.

Some more fuel burn/cruise speed data based on my first few days of running:

(calm water, half tank fuel, half water, 4 adults, all chain windlass, normal amount of gear/stuff on board)

3230 rpm
22.1 mph
27.8 gph
That's a fraction under .8 mpg if the smartcraft is correct on fuel flow. Speed was verified by 2 gps receivers. I'll post back later with data for full tanks, different rpms, and how close the smartcraft was to reality at my first fillup.

Update: Smartcraft indicated 16/30 gallons remaining in each tank at fillup. Reality was 28/26 remaining, so it's close but not exact.

It will stay on plane with tabs full "down" at 2900 rpm and roughly 18 mph, but that's obviously not the most efficient speed...

My3sons - we will be very interested in your price for the canvas work. That cantilever system has caught our eye before and looks like what we will be doing during the fall. Now working on getting rid of the "searay navigator" display and putting in a depth repeater in its' place.
Looking forward to your info!!!:smt038

Update on the canvas work: She said she will start Monday and should get it done by Friday as long as the weather cooperates. If it's not done, she will make sure that the boat is usable for next weekend, we hope to get away for a few days.
$5900.00.... complete with windlass and dash covers (we're changing to black, admiral's orders). That's a little pricey for this area, but her work stands out among the rest.
I'm a little nervous, hope the camper addition turns out well.
I'll put up some pics.
