Here are some pics of the cabin upholstery I just finished. I upholstered the bolsters around the v-berth and in the upper corners. The bedding is new, over the new memory foam mattress. I also replaced the carpet with new factory matched (I chickened out on the wood floor). I removed the dinette seating and the "baseboard" at the base of the cabinets to do the complete job.

That looks great! Boat looks brand new inside. Where did you get the matching carpet?

Thank you all, I ordered the carpet from the dealer. Also, like I said above, I removed the "baseboard" from the cabinets. It is just carpet stapled onto wood. The wood is called "wacky wood" and comes in sheets. It is very flexible as you can see it bends around the cabinets.

Very well done. :smt001
Have you considered carpet protectors?

EXCELLENT Job!!! :smt038

How hard was getting the old carpet out? Was is a major PITA?

That is our project for next year and I have heard stories of nightmares about geting the old carpet out.

Wow that looks sharp. did you redo the cabinets too? everything looks new.

carpet

I didn't do the cabinets, they have been kept in good shape.

The carpet wasn't too bad to rip up, easier than I thought. It is glued down and just takes a little time. Then you have to scrape the adhesive residue off the floor a little before you put down the new. The carpet was laid down before the dinette seating so it goes under them. I removed the seating first and it made the finished job a lot easier. This way you don't have to try to cut around a lot of things. I made a template and only had to cut around the stair base and the point where it meets the v-berth.

I do have snap-in carpet runners, but haven't put it back down yet. I am waiting for a price from Great Lakes Boat Top for new ones first.

How were you able to stretch it out tight? Did you use a knee kicker and wood strips with little nails or ????

carpet

It didn't need to be stretched out. After applying adhesive to the floor and then laying the carpet down, you just roll it a little (I used a small paint can) and it will stay. I just glued small sections at a time. I left some dry and went back the next day to do more. This made it easier to keep the wrinkles out of the carpet. The carpet is stapled inside the floor hatch.

Carpet Job

That looks fantastic! You've given me courage to try this on mine at the end of the season!
