The screws holding the circular metal plate that attaches the cabin wooden table top to the pedestal column have broken away. Someone leaned on the table with too much force. This is the second time that this has happened. The first time, I turned the the metal plate a couple to degrees and put in new screws. Any one have any suggestions for a better fix?

Did the screws break off, or did they rip out of the wooden table? If they broke, then I'd suggest stronger/better screws, maybe a different material than what you used. If they pulled out of the wood, then maybe a larger diameter screw for a deeper thread is in order.

The screws pulled out the wood. My concern is that this is the second time that this has happened.

Could drill out the holes just a little to clean them up and then fill them with a plastic wood product, let set a few days and then reinstall the bracket.

Might swing by a cabinet shop and see what they recommend.

Drill out the holes over sized, fill with epoxy and let set. The drill into the epoxy and screw in. This works with sealing fiberglass holes on the deck and should work here too.

Any chance you can get under it and put a backing plate and through bolts?

Without pics hard to come up with repair options. What about gluing and screwing a piece of 3/4” plywood painted same color as bottom of table and attach metal plate to plywood?

You can drill some countersink holes through the top, and then use pan-head screws or bolts. If you don't want the screw-heads showing, drill the countersinks deeper and then put wooden plugs over the screws.

if your drilling thru the table use carrage bolts, nice round head on top
