Hi,

ok, now that boating season is over, I would like to fix my cabin door. The rollers on the bottom of the door ( handle side) appear to be broken as the door drags in the track.

In my last posting, someone told me the dash has to be removed. Has anyone really replaced the rollers on their door?
After talking with Sea Ray headquarters today, I understand their is a service bulletin on how to fix but they only give it to the dealers. I don't even know where to start on how to remove the dashboard. :huh:Any advice appreciated.

I have a 2003 Sundancer 280.

Thanks,
T

Hi,

Yes, at least the left side is. When I lift the door up from the handle, I can easily slide it. Basically, the door is dragging in the track from the left side. I found out that Sea Ray gets the track assembly from Teak Isle MFG. The company told me that this assembly consists of the track and Delrin balls. They offered no assistance on how to repair.

Any suggestions?

I just saw this thread. I need the same for a '05 340.

Hey Tony,

I hat to be questioning you, but…..here goes. Are you 100% sure the rollers are BROKEN? When someone lifts up on the door can you see a chipped portion of a roller?

The reason why I ask is two fold:

#1) It’s a real pain to change this part. You need to remove the throttles, remove the helm then remove the door. I think Jeremy (280 Sea Ray) has instructions. Not a easy task.

#2) Its more likely they are gummed up and you can fix via cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, washing, cleaning, cleaning, washing, rinsing, rinsing, wait for them to dry then add lubrication, lots of it. Its critical to add the correct lube. WD40 works great but attracts dirt and it will get gumed back up fast. Silicone spray does not attract dirt but simply does not work. I have found some stuff that works but I don’t have access to it right now, boat is in storage. It was RV track lubricant from WalMart.

Hi Doug,

Yeah, I am pretty sure but will check again.
the space between the lower track and the door on the left side is smaller than the right.
I have to lift the door up by the handle, then move it to the right. when I lift it(the left side that is) it moves easily. The previous owner gave me a piece of plastic when I purchased the boat. he thought thats all it needed. When I spoke to Teak Isle MFG yesterday, they told me that piece of plastic is what hold the Delrin balls in place.

If there is any easy work around this problem "ANYONE PLEASE HELP"!

You may want to send a message to Jeremy (280 Sea Ray)

I don’t think he is on here all that often. I think he has Do It Yourself step by step instructions. I read them once on the old board. I remember thinking it was a big bad job.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

If the door is sitting uneven, well, that is a bad sign, but please don’t take my word for it, see if you can have one person lift the door as you look from the inside of the cabin.

I have three little plastic wheels in my hand. Is that a bad sign on the 340?

John - I think that is a real bad sign....we had to have one of our roller assemblies replaced under warranty just 2 weeks after the boat was built...there was so much fiberglass, and saw dust in the track that it jammed up the wheel and the little ball bearings fell out resulting the wheel comin off the backet that holds it in place.

The dealer had to remove the wet bar, fridge, and the port side of the dash...while it was a part, I cleaned up the mess that SR left behind the dash, and cleaned the upper and lower tracks.

It slides with my wifes pinky finger...the way it should be!!

Tony - The 280 is a walk through right? I would presume the access to the door is similar. Talk with your dealer's service mgr...when our dealer replaced ours, they called SR Cust. Serv. to get advice on the proper sequence for disassembling the wet bar...the factory hides hold down screws all over the place and they had quite a time finding all of them!
