I went to go crank my 2007 250SLX for the first time this year and when I turn the ignition to the right to the first part (before turning over the engine) I get a continuous warning buzz that goes off about every 2 seconds.

Help!!!

Could be several things. The two times I've had that happen were a bad Smart Craft Tach and a bad ECM. Look in the Smart Craft manual for how to do a reset on the tach. But first there are other things to check: could be a bad battery; low gear lube or low engine oil.

If none of those are the cause have your dealer check the ECM.

One question: Can you start the engine?

I didn't want to because I didn't want to make things worse before I RTFM'd!!

A friend of mine called and said it might be low voltage and said to check my gauges. Apparently my smartcraft gauge will tell me what the alarm is.

I'm not home until tomorrow to see what the alarm readout says.

I'll follow up in 2 days what the issue is/was.

Thanks for the reply.

Couldn't it be something with the Automatic Fire Supression system?

I am having the same problem - my alarm is going off before the engine is started when I turn the key on. It just gives me a 'check engine' but doesn't tell me what to check. Does anybody know what the solution might be?
