Hi There,

i am buying used 2004 Sundancer 320 Vdrive this weekend and need your advise what should i look for on the boat? what is most common problem this model has?
yes i have marine surveyor coming as well, but want to hear your opinion too!
the boat is in salt water Hilton's Heads SC

If that is the 2004 on brokerage at Harborside, it looks like a clean boat. Updated fridge in the cabin and cockpit and it appears to be well maintained. I'm in Charleston and just closed on a 340 last Thursday. I looked at several Sea Rays in HHI, but not this one in particular as I wanted a white hull, but I remember it looked good in photos.

I'm sure your surveyor knows what to look for and more experienced people can chime in. I recently looked at a 320 with a rotted fore deck around the hatch and windlass and it was bad. Your surveyor will put a moisture meter on those areas.

Being in salt water, I would ensure the manifolds and risers have been replaced as needed and are in good condition. In addition to a hull survey, I would get a mechanical survey and check compression and condition of the engines and generator. I would also send oil and transmission samples out for evaluation. 5 samples in total including the generator at a cost of around $50 each, but worth it in my opinion.

Good luck!

thank you for great comment, the boat is actually in Bluffton, SC Matthews marine so i dont think this is the one. yes i have both marine surveyor and engine surveyor coming out so i will know compression too. the oil samples they told me $250 and you are saying $50.. i will try to bring it down now when i know. one engine was just replaced cuz it was shut and second they did change manifold riser for prevention. it does not have generator, but it will be a separate thread if i want to install one or go with HondaEU2000 or inverter system.
congrats on 340, beautiful boat!!!

I believe I looked at that boat at Matthews last year. White hull and originally from New Jersey and yes, no generator. I can't remember the engines on that one.

Oil samples should be $50 each so I would think maybe it's $250 for all five fluids?

yes that the one... now i am wondering why they had it last year for sale, and now again since this listing was only 2 days old before i put deposit on it. Yes $250 sample fee total.. then i guess its fair

thank you, will see this boat in few days.. hope it passes inspection
