Everybody has been asking for them so I have started doing some legwork to find them. I ran across a company with a very nice employee that offered to design one for us. Below is what he has coime up with. Anybody have any input on it? It will be an all sewn burgee readable from both sides. So it will not be an el'cheapo version. Feedback please....

No, a club burgee typically only comes one way. Believe me, I am open to suggestions. Please bring on the input or ideas. You guys and gals will be the ones putting this on your boats so you all should have the say on the design. I don't have time to design on which is why I jumped on this guy's offer to design one. From what I know about burgees they all look kind of goofy  Seems like the goofier ones are more memorable and distinctive. The one pictured above did not jump out at me, but after staring at it for a while it too is distinctive and noticable. Perhaps the burgee guy knows what he is doing

Another thing to consider is a burgee should be noticeable from a distance with just a glance. If there is too much detail it goes unnoticed and looks cluttered. That is why having small details, like the CSR domain on the flag is a burgee no-no :smt018 Anybody who knows what the burgee looks like should be able to notice it easily from a distance.

CSR in black and the flag in a gold color?
No border like posted above IMO.

This might help in giving people ideas:

I think the above flag design is fine. We should decide on colors and then go for it.

Maybe if we could see three color combos, and then vote.....done by the end of the week....

Personnaly, I would prefer "Nautical" colors....

Whoever designed that burgee must be a flippin steelers fan :smt013 :smt013 :smt014

I'm partial to Navy Blue and Gold, but that's just cause I'm a (former) squid.

Seriously, whatever the group decides is fine with me. Any chance we would have these by July?

Navy and Gold gets my vote....very nautical...

Anchors aweigh my boys, anchor's aweigh....Blue and gold for this ex-anchor-clanker as well....although it may clash with the black canvas!

Navy and Gold or Navy and White works for me.

I'm partial to Black background, white reflective threaded letters and gold trim but a Navy and gold trim sounds fine to me too. Still would like the white reflective threading for the lettering.
Just my $.02

Black and gold sounds very handsome.

Also, I guess we need a one size fits all to keep this as simple as possible. Yacht club general rules, from Chapman’s, state that the power boat burgee should be five-eights of an inch on the fly for every foot of overall boat length. I can only guess they came up with this so it looks proportionally correct. Considering all the different size boats we have, I wonder how big this should be. :smt017

Maybe there should be two basic sizes.

A moderate size for Sport Boat guys.

A Large size for Big Boat guys.
