Building Broadband Wireless Network On Board

OK....whoever is not laughing right now please leave.....

I wouldn't throw it out of bed for eating crackers.

What issue? As an aside, Linksys support is about as useless as tits on a tree. You'd be better off checking some of the online forums (which ones escape me at the moment, search for 'em).

I have a 5750 card in my WRT54G3G and it's worked fine. You do have to activate the card using a PC first. That and periodically keep it updated via a PC. At least, that's what I've done. I'll double-check what rev software is on my router when I get to the boat later today. I never had to use the Connect button at all. I just pop the card into the router and it automagically connects. I do usually power off the router first and the insert the card. But I've done it both ways and both worked.

We just had a baby the 21st and have been a bit busy. This'll be his first time aboard.

My PC5750 works fine, I use it all the time directly plugging in to different loptops. The issue was that the router doesn't see the card. I did plug in the card before powering the router. The problem is that there's no Internet light on the router. When I do connect to the router and go to the setup page, in Mobile Connection section there's a button "Connect". It's disabled, I can't click on it.

I'm researching the EVDO forums and find many complaints that people can't have the same setup working.

Linksys website has only documentation for Sprint. The thing is that I just got this router from a store where I can return it, but I got limited time and don't feel like just keeping this thing if I can't get it working.

Is there any trick in the way it has to be setup so it reads the card?

Gang,
AS with anything in this life, if there's a knowkedge, there's a reward. Otherwise, se-la-vy.

I almost return the router with disaponting results, but something kept telling me to give this another try. So, I made another attempt and called linksys support. Between two reps I got lucky to get one lady that knows this stuff without reading the cheatsheet. After reviewing router's firmware, she guided me to the upgraded version. That simple trick made the router read my PC5750 Verizon card. From there on I have new local network with my new WRT54G3G-VN router. I can't wait to get to the boat and test it there with multiple laptops.

One good news at midnight is a good start :))

Many thanks to all for helping out.
Alex.

Gary, I can't believe you actually researched and found tree with tits :smt043

I'm surprised that wasn't deleted as well.... you know.... posting tree porn and all.

Many thanks to all for helping out.

Glad to see you got it working. I've only just now had the time to check the firmware version info on my gear. I'm showing card version PC-5750VE with firmware D5750VEM01_4.203 1 [Sep 08 2006 14:00:00] [Nov 10 2006 18:03:35]. For the router itself it's version v2.00.9, Nov. 2, 2006. Mine lists itself as using Sprint as the network even though it's actually using Verizon. I take it there's yet another version of the firmware? I haven't checked as mine's been working OK.
