Building a swim platform

Did you make that custom tab, or did you purchase it?
i was thinking about adding something to help the boat plane out at less RPMs
im assuming that is its purpose.......

Built it out of 1/4" aluminum. Pietro has a similar one on his boat that he swears by. These damned things are waaaaaaay too nose high on plane, and the tabs just aren't big enough. The fixed tab can only help!

Well, because the factory platform was deficient in so many ways, I've started building a new one for the 390. It's roughly 140" wide by 44" deep. I'm building the deck out of two sheets of 1/2" plywood laminated together. I cut the slots in it for the factory teak inserts because i like them, and I'm going to be adding a hatch with the folding ladder under it, and a water-tight locker for a stern anchor and some ropes. I'm also adding a couple of pop-up cleats as well. It should take about 8-10 gallons of resin/hardener. I'm going to use 3 layers of resin/cloth, so it should be rock solid after that. Actually, with all the framing in place, it's rock solid right now. I'm hoping to start glassing next weekend. Let me know if the link to the pics doesn't work.

OMG! Absolutely beautiful job!!

Thanks all! I'm glad it's out of the garage. I just need to lay some Sikkens on the teak grates and bolt them on, and it's a fully done deal. Now I get to do all the other fun spring maintenance items like buffing/wax/bottom paint.

The platform is on and done!!!!!!!!!!!!almost. I still have to refinish my teak grates, then it's done. It took 3 months and 5 days by the calendar, but I was gone for 21 of those days. It cost just just under 1500 bucks. I'm happy with the results.

I also installed my Pietro tab.

I've noticed you have 4 blade props. Did you make the modification? It should help in getting onto plane.

It came with the 4-blades. I don't want to make it seem like it doesn't get on plane, but it's definitely bow-higher than I'd like it to be. The tab can only help.

I'll admit when I first saw the wood being put together, I thought "Ohh... this is going to be funny." You did a great job and it looks wonderful.

Gary's going soft on us.

FYI
My prop guy says adding cup to the wheels will make the nose go down/stern lift up...

Blood pressure meds do that...
