Lost of things to be done include:
Starter is grounding itself but comps are good, One pinhole in hull needs patched, gas tank needs flushed from sitting for a couple years, rear seats need rebuilt entirely.

other than that transom is good floor is good body is great electronics all work and she’s beautiful.

future pics to come any recommendations or advice are strongly welcomed I’ve boated since I was nine and my family has been through quite a few large to medium boats over the years but has been a few years since I’ve hit the water and am super excited to get back at it

Sounds like a great project. You will find there are lots of people here who have done the same, including me, and we can answer a lot of questions. Mine is a 1972 SRV 190 (which is really only 18 ft) but basically the same boat with an Mercruiser 165 I/O. As for the engine I would suggest another good source, Fiberglassics http://www.fiberglassics.com/glassic-forums

well Update time. Had my father look at the motor and we couldnt get it going so we had an acquaintance of his who’s been working on boat motors for longer than I’ve been alive look at it, seems it’s the pulse pack or possibly various other things. Gonna be quite a bill but it did turn over. I should also mention he is insanely fair priced and compared to sourcing another motor this seems reasonable and I’d like to keep this 115 going.

Also on a side note I’m starting to have doubts that the floor isn’t quite as solid as I’d imagined at first. I’m somewhat heavier being 6’5” and 235lbs so ive noticed slight sag in the floor while walking around and I’m debating just redoing it all regardless of condition, but have no idea where to start. I’m willing to do the work etc so if you guys have any recommendations or links to useful things to help me rebuild it it’d be much appreciated. Pics to come of progress Monday when I get a day off :)

    cheers,
    Marcus

    Well she’s all gutted.
    Tomorrow’s to do list:
Replace side runner pieces with new trim to hold carpet down
    Remove carpet and clean properly
Paint interior walls and bilge in white
Remove gas tank flush and clean maybe even paint it
Frame new rear seats and support area

already removed all old/dead wires and traced and labeled every wire and ground and untangled them all
Set up a temporary rocker switch gang for bilge, lights and horn because original ignition gang panel switches are broken and installed a volt gauge for the battery beside the throttle and I Plan to replace it with a nice lit up proper one in the dash once it arrives in the mail,

other than that I have a small hole to patch and gonna do some body fuller in the dings in the sides of the hull and the motor is just waiting for a pulse box rectifier and a few other things. I also have a wiring diagram if anyone needs it I’ll post a pic of it tomorrow for reference

It would be hard to believe that the stringers are still ok? I would also double check transom as well. There are lots and lots of rebuilds on The Hull Truth, Classic Mako and others. Three you tube channels that would help are Sail Life and Onboard Lifestyles. Boat Works today is a very nice go to. GOD speed with the restoration. JC

You’re absolutely right after lifting up the carpet tonight and with the seats out the floor is Definately a bit soft in some spots. Looks like a good winter project :)

bilge painted and side walls striped completely and painted gas tank is out and flushed going to paint it tomorrow and reinstall. One washer on the engine mount seemed to be pressed too far into transom and had a small crack so doubled up with some oil treated plywood and some new big washers and siliconed it on to help support more. The floor only has a couple soft spots around a place where the fibreglass delaminated from the wood but as I said I plan to re do the floor this winter/spring and for now I’m going to seal it up and it’ll be more than sturdy enough.

Wow, you're making quick progress. Is that an 8 track player in the center console? If so, would be cool if it works, they bring back fond childhood memories!!

URGENT!! Before sealing the floor up check the stringers And transom for rot. On a boat that age you must do this. If a washer pulled into the transom as you say you could have some rot there as well. It should not have done this.

Yes I realize this and as I said previously I plan to rebuild the floor this Winter/spring. As for the transom there was no visual signs of rot on the transom it looks to have just cracked the glass slightly. I will however look into rebuilding the transom in the near future but I do appreciate you’re concern

You will seldom "see" any rot in a fiberglass boat. You need to "tap" the transom and stringers with a screwdriver handle listening for dull thuds rather than the wanted sharp tap. A moisture meter would be best.

I’ll Definately pick one of those up I want to do this as thoroughly as possible I believe from the looks of it the transom crack was most likely the result of the prop hitting something and motor not being mounted tight enough or big enough washers, it definately did not look or sound or feel like any moisture got in. Regardless I will redo transom next year just to make sure. Thanks for the advice again :)

So I’ve decided to put in a bilge well... the old drain holes are way too small and not draining as well as I’d like them to and I’d like as much buoyancy as possible. I’m planning on running 3 pressure treated boards about eight feet long in two sections From the center console as far aft as that’ll go. Let’s pray the wood under there is decent enough to withstand some scabbing and framing. Next year it’ll be gutted regardless but I’d like to atleast get a few launches in this year. Wish me luck

Would like to hear about your experience with the solar battery charger; have thought about that but not this yet.
