Has anyone tried this product as a compound prior to polish and wax? Just wondering if it is as good as they promote.

Thanks,

I don't know about Buff Magic but I used Mothers chrome and mag wheel polish on my windshield metal and man did it work.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I'm a big fan of Buff Magic and have been using it for 2-3 years. I haven't found anything I like better and I've tried a lot of stuff. You need a rotorary to do it right.

I bought it for the boat, but then tried it on my old Mustang. That stuff is awsome on paint, haven't tried it on the gelcoat yet. I did a small section by hand, I think a buffer would be needed to do it right also.

Hey Knot- i bought some Buff Magic and tried a test spot on my boat tonight. I had already cleaned it, and scrubbed it and put 3 coats of polish on it. however it was just not shinny as I wanted. So I tried a test section of Buff Magic. I did it by hand and it really brought the shine back to what it must have been when new. Seems like really good stuff.

Great, I just received my order from Shurhold and didn't get any. Now I need to put in another order! :smt021

Thanks everyone,

I will place an order and try in a small spot on my gel coat. Just seems funny that this stuff can be used on gel coat and metals:huh:. I will follow up this fall when I pull out for the season and prep for winter.

Not really on metal but the finish that is applied over the metal...

what size jar do you need for 23' boat?

You likely could get by with the small can. Also, before I discovered liquid Flitz, I used BM on the bow rails, a little more work, but left super clean and bright stainless steel rails.

How does Buff Magic differ from Pro Polish? Why would you choose and apply one over the other?

Buff Magic can be used on a dull (lightly oxidized surface) to bring back the shine...Pro Polish would be the next step to brighten up the surface. On a non oxidized surface, I use PP prior to wax with very good results.

Decent explanation here

I just ordered the whole shabang. buff magic, pro polish, serious shine, and some pads. I've been a wax guy but I'm going to change over to this stuff for a year and see how it goes.

It's gonna take you a year to do all that glass Mike....then time to start over!!

Not me. The Admiral. I canceled her Gym membership and replaced it with a buffer.

I am doing basically the same thing. I called Shurhold and was told that Serious Shine and Serious Marine Cleaner will both strip the Polish. Just a heads up, I was planning to use SS for the black streaks because is does a great job of removing them. I also ordered the Polisher, more BM, Pro Polish and Yacht Brite yesterday.

I thought serious shine had polish in it?
