Has anyone tried/switched to BTS protectant instead of wax. The idea of spray and wipe every few months sounds a lot better to me than the waxing process. I may test it out on my blue hull 175 Sport, although its garaged and doesn't see weather when not in use.

Never heard of BTS but I would at least polish the boat at the beginning of the season and do touch ups with a spray on product.

I tried it. Honestly, I found it to be a waste of $25. It did not add shine or appear to protect my boat at all. Because of that, I was hesitant to use it anywhere else. I have an almost full bottle just sitting there.

Maybe my results were atypical, but it was worthless for me.

I did use it on my waverunner with great results. Picked up a couple mph. But, I agree with paulswagelock, I would not use it on my main boat.

If you go to the Aerospace 303 page, they have a whole section on using 303 instead of wax, and 303 instead of buffing an oxidized boat. There are some pretty heady claims there. I am suspicious of their claims, but I have used 303 on my car dash, my 65 Mustang interior, etc with great results.
If 303 works as described on fiberglass, I would think that is what the OP is looking for. I will try a test spot on my boat this year in a few weeks; I have some light oxidation and it will make a perfect test candidate.

I don't know anything about that BTS product - but I've used the Leverage products and was pleasantly surprised with them.

I asked about the 303 on another site. Save your money. They are trying to sell a product in a market for which it was not intended. I know folks who were also please with Leverage products.

Thanks for the info. All suspicious claims laid to rest...

303 claims it is "SPF for vinyl, fiberglass, etc". I use it on my vinyl - personally, I think it's the best thing out there. Thinking that it would also be good for my gelcoat, I tried that a few years ago (simply as an extra protectant). How well it works as a protectant, I will never know. It is very tricky to get it on/off without leaving streak marks. I only did a 10' section and gave up. Maybe I just wasn't doing it correctly, but I thought "Why beat myself up when I already have a system that works?".

303 is a product that is similar to what armor all was trying to achieve. Perfect for plastics and vinyl but not intended for fiberglass and gelcoat.

Ever wash your car and then put any kind of tire dressing on the wheels afterwords only to find out it all was slung up on the sides of the car in little dots? Thats effectively what 303 would do to a boat exterior.

Now 303 for use on the boats seating, perfect. I have used it almost since day one and all my upholstery on the flybridge still looks like brand new with zero fading.

I like how you said that... "trying"... :smt001

That's a much nicer way of saying it than I would of!
