Spent some time relaxing, playing, and dining in New Buffalo, MI this past weekend. This is the first time we have seen the lake iced over, beaches of snow and the harbor closed. It was fun to climb around the dunes and ice mounds.

It will be a whole different climate in another 6 weeks!

Pictures made me go out in the pole barn to visit my Sea Ray, so I can dream of summer

Is this a boaters version of groundhogs day? Pictures are nice - but WAY too cold! Come on SUMMER (since we didn't have one last year!).

The picture of the slips show my old slip. A 211 right off the yacht club! Were you actually on the lake walking around?

It is ok to go on the ice mounds after others prove they won't break.

Kinda like the two guys that came accross a bear in the woods. One of them stopped to tie his shoe. His friend says hurry the bear is coming! The reply is I don't have to outrun the bear I only have to outrun you.

So we let others check the ice first.

Had a great dinner at Brewsters.

Scott, if we had planned the trip instead of deciding to go Saturday morning I would have asked if you and the spouse could meet us for a meal.

Hope to meet all of you from Mich Cty and New Buf when the weather turns and business allows us to get out. We stay crazy busy until mid June.

In an earlier post, I think it was you that mentioned a 370da that was for sale in New Buffalo. We bought that boat, had it recarpeted down below and out back, all the canvas was replaced with a black camper top and redid the strips. Renamed the boat from DILLAGAF to Thistle and moved her to St. Joseph. Great boat per the surveyer and new loving owners. I would recomend this boat to anyone. We came from a 37.5 Hunter Legend sailboat,

Lance
Thistle. My wife is Scottish and it's the national flower.

MonacoMike,
In 2004, the ice was like sand dunes at New Buffalo. They looked like they went out for a 1/2 mile from the shore. That was a cold winter.

Lance, I looked at your boat 2.5 years ago before we bought our current 370DA. I passed on her. We wanted the more neutral colors down below. Good luck with her.

I am really glad you are enjoying her! The former owner loved that boat as well. As far as I remember the boat only really needed a few minor things to be perfect and a nice detail to bring the shine back.
