Any one know what kind of spray they use at the factory for corrosion protection? I keep a can of Corrosion Block in my tool box and use it on batteries, termenals, etc. but it's real thin and blue and watery. I want to spray my bus terminals I installed to power my underwater lights with the same stuff the factory uses 'cause It dries up brown and lasts. Any ideas?

I believe its is a Mercruiser product called Corrosion Guard, but its just aerosol cosmoline. I think every brand has one....take a look at West Marine. Once you smell cosmoline, you will recognize it immediately.

After reading this I went to Boaters world and found both "Corrosion Gard" and "Boeshield T 9".

Which do you guys suggest/prefer?

Depends upon what you are doing with it.

Corrosion Guard leaves a waxy moisture barrier film behind, its messy and unsightly, but forms an excellent barrier. Boeshield is a good product, is cleaner looks nicer but is an oil that tends to run off and must be replenished periodically.

I was cleaning the ground terminals on one of the grounding bars mounted on the transom. This bar had some sticky-type corrosion protection on it and I ended up cleaning everything and reassembling. I thought I would use the same stuff Sea Ray used as it lasted quite a while. I think the Corrosion block was about three times the cost of T9 so before I bought something I thought I would get your opinion.

Thanks for the feedback,

Mark
