Hey fellow SeaRay owners! I've never posted or asked any questions on club searay. I've alway just enjoyed reading all the post and questions. Now I find myself in a situation where I could use a little help. During the flood here in south Louisiana my baby floated into the
I-beams of the boat house. The only major damage was a broken port curved glass,a broken upper center glass above the electric glass vent and a bent bow rail. Of course there will be an insurance claim. The insurance company is contemplating replacing the whole frame vs just the glass. The frame would have to be custom made because they say it is obsolete. Does anyone know if just the glass is available or should I just let them replace the frame and glass. FYI, Taylor made quote my local SeaRay dealer $18k-$22k for the complete frame and glass. Anyone have any ideas, especially about where to find just the glass?

If it is flat glass, a good glass shop that cuts automotive glass can handle it or order it from a commercial glass distributor. If it is curved glass them TaylorMade is the only source. Due to their vendor agreement with Sea Ray, they can only sell Sea Ray glass and parts to a Sea Ray dealer. I'd let your insurance company handle it….perhaps they can get around the dual mark-up process of going thru a SR dealer.

Welcome,
Yep a hard way to find out how proud Taylor Made is of their products, if your insurance is going for a custom made frame & glass I'd let them do it but I'd get it in writing before they have it done if it isn't as well made or fit correctly you have the option of them replacing it with a Taylor Made frame & windshield. I personally would want only OEM replacement parts, what will the shop use for a windshield template? Will everything fit correctly like canvas & isinglass?

You might get lucky and find one on ebay, that could take months.

Good luck hope your back in the water soon we missed all of August due to hitting a dead head log it sucks.

I did custom flooring for a Sea Ray 280 SS a few months back. It was in the shop awaiting a new windshield. Was talking to the shop guys......$12,000 from Taylor made.

I would pay attention to the tinting. Have seen boats where it was apparent that there was a replacement window. A small side window would not show as much as a windshield would.

Taylor made is requiring the section of the windshield be sent back to them for the glass install then they would ship back for the dealer to in stall on the boat. Thx for the heads up on the option!

Thanks for the help club members! Our waters ways are still closed here due to the flood so not missing anything right now! Cruising season here is quickly approaching so need to get her up and going. Again thanks for the advice!

You do realize this is almost 2 years old? He probably has it repaired already.
