So to make a long story short I broke the pictured nut off of our windlass. Is anyone familiar with replacing it? The nut snapped leaving the threads in the shaft.

I did some further research and it seem to be a common problem. It seems sea ray has swapped out the part so the part listed in the catalog is no longer available but they do have a replacement part (item# LWPCN020). I've ordered the part from IMTRA Marine products. It seems the hardest part will be removing the broken off threaded piece. I think home depot sells a tool for this. We'll see how it goes...

I know is an old post but I just got exactly the same problem, I found the part online and was trying to remove the broken piece but hasn't been able to do so.

Were you able to fix it ?

Is it a left threaded bolt ? or a regular thread ?

I think I was able to remove the top of the windless(part #946 above). From there I was able to use a pliers to remove the broken nub. It wasn’t in very tight.
