Bringing Boat from Erie, PA to Port Clinton

At 4200 RPM each engine burns 28GPH so total of 56 gallons per hour. At 1200 RPM burn rate is 2.5 to 3 Gallons per hour per engine so total of 6 gallons per hour. At 4200 RPM we go 22 Knots at 1200 RPM we go 6 knots. Engines have 3200 hours on them and preform the same as they did at 500 hours.
Thanks for the very useful information!

I want to thank everyone for your very helpful replies. So much great info. I appreciate your assistance very much!

Breaking it up into 3 days, this is a possible set of routes. No more than 6 hours a day, no more than about 50% fuel used and close enough to shore to get quick help, and multiple places to stop short if things dont go as planned and/or trouble weather limits your progress.
I appreciate your detailed route advice. Thanks so much!

As Mark mentioned, the old 'Rock and Dock' has a new name now

It was called the Rock and Dock as the marina is quite literally in the shadow of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Within walking distance from the marina Rock Hall (left), Science Center (right), William Mather Lake Freighter Museum (just out of frame on right) and the USS Cod WWII Submarine (5 minute walk out of frame on left)

And if you do Mexican, this photo was taken where now stands a pretty good Mexican joint called Nuevo.

Before you leave make sure anything that can fall off places or fall over is secure. If you get in rough water the boat can take more than you can. We place all loose counter items in sink. Things that will fall off tables we place on floor. In back deck we have any thing that will roll or fall secured permanently. All items in cupboards are fine as the door latches are good. In engine room if you store items make sure they can not roll or fall into an engine. General rule for us in PFDs on when waves get over 3 feet. Put your cell phone in a zip lock bag and put it in a secure pocket. If you do not have a water proof VHF radio get one that you can clip onto your belt. Worst we have been in was 8 foot short waves for 25 miles. We got caught in a store that was not supposed to be there.

If you have someone available that wants to sight see have them meet you wherever you are going in a follow car. They can keep tabs on your progress and you wont have to rubber leg it to get around after docking for the night. Also good for trips to west marine,Not that that would evvvvver happen.

I would suggest a Tow Boat US membership in case you have a mechanical failure. Not sure what their coverage is in that area though.

Thats great advise.

Tow Boat US has a vessel in the same basin I'm in in downtown Cleveland.
Erie PA and Sandusky have services as well.
