Bringing Beachcomber Home

With no "consumable services" like electric, how would a marina be any different than any other state (or county or city) funded facility? Parks, roadside picnic areas, boat ramps, campgrounds, etc. Sure, some have a small fee, but usually only if they are manned or have some type of consumable service. A "public marina" doesn't seem like such a reach.

Besides, it was probably just an ear mark in some defense budget...

GFC, after watching your video, I would've been hypnotized by watching the windmills spin and wouldn't have noticed the boat rocking. Great job on the Beachcomber Chronicals.

Thanks for the nice comments all of you. I hope you had as much fun watching/reading this as I did writing it.

I need to pick up a good video editing software. I have several other vids of going into the locks but most are too long to upload. I could edit them down and post them later.

Anyone know of a video editing software they've used and been happy with???

I have a HD camera and I have had nothing but trouble trying to download through the computer.....It is great to the TV, but that is it........I am going to try this weekend....That is my project.....3 days alone on the vineyard

Wetpaint, when I hook my Sony cam to the computer via the USB cable that came with it, I get the window that opens that asks if I want to open that drive to view the files. I click on that option and it opens a drive directory.

I can double click on any of the vids and they will play, or I can click and drag on any/all of them to move them to a subdirectory on the computer.

Storing them or playing them has never been a problem. I'm trying to find some software that will allow me to edit/shorten the vids. Some of them are 10-15 minutes long and too large to upload. If I deleted some of the "empty" time on the video they could be shorted to <5 minutes and easier to upload.

I have been very happy with Photoshop Elements.

im not a windows guy, but ive heard windows movie maker is really easy to use and will do what you need.

I downloaded Windows Movie Maker and did a couple of tests with the videos I shot. I was able to cut them down to a better size but when I saved them MM would only let me save them in Windows Live Movie Maker Project format. Every one of the files is shown as 3KB.

When I tried to upload them to Photoshop it didn't recognize that format so couldn't "see" the files in my video library. Nearly the same thing with YouTube. MM would let me "publish" them to YouTube but I don't necessarily want them to be public so I declined. I then went into my YT account and tried to upload one of them. It looked like it would work but ended up not working.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

did you download the newest movie maker "windows live moviemaker" . Most of my movies are made with the last version of movie maker. If it's widows live movie maker ... load and edit your video, then at the top.. go to save were the you tube icon is at and open the box and scroll down to save "standard definition" ...it's the TV icon and it should save as a regular video...to get the best player for your video's, download VLC. It's my personal choice....I'm sure others will chime in with their peferences. if you have another problems or questions email me mp1paul at hotmail dot com
