Brig RIB Opinions...

I'm looking at a Brig E340 RIB as a tender and general fun runabout around the marina & harbor. It appears to be a well built and quality item. However, the only reason I am looking at Brig is the dealer is very close to my Marina.

Does anybody have any good or bad to say about Brig in general?

There's a Brig dealer at my marina in TN. The 6-8 year old boats don't look so good.... and we're in TN, fresh water, and boats are stored under cover. Not that Zodiac is the best in quality (mine leaves something to be desired), but they seem to last much better and I found the fit, finish, layout/design to be superior.

That said, I've never owned the Brig.

Just an update (that was my original post at the top -- with a different user name).

After looking at the new Brig E340, I chose to deal on a 2 year old Avon SeaSport 340DL. These are both "deluxe" Ribs with steering wheel, seats, storage compartments...mini-yachts kind of.

Anyway, while the Brig is nice...the Avon is a step above in my opinion. The Avon layout is somewhat more versatile (with a folding bench seat up front), comes with a bigger motor (40 vs. 30) and is a little more stylish with molded rub rails all around.

The Brig was nice - but the Avon is definitely more refined. That being said, the Avon also retails for nearly $24k new...where the Brig is about $15k new. However, the Avon I found on eBay was in "Like-New" condition and with only 25 hours I got it for just over half of retail.

Hopefully this helps somebody out in the future.

Hi Shawn,

How is the SeaSport running? Any maintenance issues? Anyone have any thoughts about an '06 SeaSport 320 RIB with 65 hours? There is one listed for $9K in our marina. I have no idea on value for these, but it looks pretty nice. Anyone with any knowledge of these in salt water?
