Kind of interesting. When I first bought our boat I asked what this key was for. Nobody could tell me. Turns out that it looks like it's for the macerator. I thought it was an emergency start or so something. When I turned it for a second last night it sounded like the macerator turned on.

Yes, this on is easy it is to prevent accidental overboard discharge from the holding tank.
The sea valve has to be locked closed or a key like this so only the "Master" can decide when to pump overboard.

Legally you dont want to leave the key in, it should be with your ignition keys or elsewhere. If you get boarded and they see the key you could get cited.

Everyone always says the key in the head will dump the blackwater tank. The key feels like it has a position for it when you turn it all the way, but nothing happens. Now I know the rest of the story... Thanks.
