hey guys i have an 88 searay sundancer with a 454 that i had a alpha on but i converted entire set up to a bravo one drive/transom plate/gimble housing etc, anyways i was looking at my drive the other day and i went to take off the side plate where the gears are and obviously lube leaked out so i screwed it back on quick , anyways i noticed that lube started comming out of the spot where the shift cable hooks into the drive, is that normal or would that indicate a possible leak there ? please help, need to install drive this weekend :) thanks-

Are you talking about the rear cover on the upper housing? Is that the cover you removed ? Was there a leak prior to you removing it?If so you may have broken or dislodged the o ring seal on that cover? That O ring seals the shift housing from the shift cable actuator #3.Also I've seen a few covers cracked after winter lay up ,check there too .Hope this helps.

Hey tom and linda, thanks for the reply,it wasnt leaking before i removed the cover, the leak was on the front side of the drive where it bolts up to the gomble housing..leaked from where the shift cable linkage.
also, where along the river are you? I stay at a marina in newburgh

If that was the cover you removed, and the drive still had lube in it,it would leak into the cavity, housing the shift linkage and cable. Did the leak stop after you put the cover back in place? If not replace the cover seal, also look behind, where the shift cable enters the helmet for leakage which would require cable replacement . If its leaking lube out, it will leak water in.
