- Single 6.2 MPI Horizon w/ Bravo III 2.20:1 gear 20" pictch prop
I'm getting ready to rebuild my 6.2 MPI Horizon engine with 1060 hours on it. I plan on beefing up the HP to 360-370 range and trying to get the torque up as well hopefully @ 450 ish. Currently with the stock 16 x 20 & 14 3/8 x 20 dual prop on a Bravo III with 2.20:1 gears i get the following speeds.
3000rpm@14mph
3500rpm@23mph
4000rpm@28mph
4500rpm@33mph
WOT 5100@38mph
The boat has bottom paint but is clean, 1 coat.
My question is resizing a prop for the new horsepower and torque. I mostly want the fastest top speed I can get without losing too much time getting on plane. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks to all.
