Boss said we would be back to work first of April so I figured I'd get a head start on the boat.Upon inspecting brake system I found one of the wheel cylinders froze. Once I removed cylinder I could not get piston and seal out. Here is how I got it apart drove piston down inside the cylinder a little bit cleaned cylinder real good then I filled it up with motor oil put bleeder back in it hooked a full size grease gun to where the brake line goes the grease gun pushed it right apart. Cleaned cylinder with a brake hone put all back together. Works like new at this point I went ahead and did the same to the other wheel cylinder also removed master cylinder sand blasted brake fluid reservoir and honed cylinder replaced brake fluid. The PO only used trailer to haul boat 5 miles to the lake and back in the fall. Brake system was never serviced.

Grese gun is a wonderful tool, soaking rusty items in 50\50 mix of acetone and auto trans fluid helps to break it up also.

What type of work do you do? a month off must be nice.

Retired from 32 years of electrical maintenance at a muni owned power plant . Took my pension and now I work in the privet sector for a company that does high voltage testing on switchgear and transformers. This type of work can't be done in the cold so I'm off from November to end of March. Thanks for the tip with the acetone and trans fluid I will have to give that I try.
