We went yesterday and bought a tube, skis, ski rope, tow rope, a tube keeper which has the suction cups to secure it to the boat. We bought all the fluids we need to keep on the boat like lube, oil, power steering fluid. We bought my son's life jacket, and a few more items. It was right at 400.00 worth of stuff, but we got it all for 230.00. When we bought the boat we got a 100.00 gift card, and we got 15% off our first purchase. I am ready for the water to warm up. I dont know much about skis, or the tubes, we bought Kidder skis, and the tube is called a fequent flyer it is a 76" tube. anyone ever used either of them? I figured skis are skis, but I could be wrong.

Yup, sounds like you went shopping. :smt038 The tubes are fun, when you first start out with the kids, take it slow and easy till they get acclimated to riding.

If you have never been water skiing before you might want to take a lesson or bring a experienced skier with you for advice. Like the old cliche' once you learn you never forget....it just takes more boat to pull you up. :smt043

Spring is just around the corner.....yeppie :smt038

Yes, keep the speeds down on the tube. I took a face first spill at about 25mph and believe me it stung. Felt like a Clubber Lang fist to the upper chest.

Searay Sport you walked out without a wakeboard. Go back to the store and buy a wakeboard. Then go to amazon and buy the book wakeboard instructional series (getting started) or you can go to www.thebookdvd.com After watching the dvd we have yet to find someone that we can not get up on the wakeboard the first time they are in the water. We also have not had anyone that has reached for the skis again. :smt017

We went with the O'Brien Edge 143 Wakeboard

Our skis are O'Brien Competitor series

Tube - not a big fan of circular tubes they just beat you up too bad so we went with the hotdog. Lots of fun.

Enjoy your new toys!!!

Sounds like you are ready for wet fun this year. Richard the comment "it just takes more boat to pull you up" should also have the part about having to use the 2nd ski and dropping it  Wesley the point to the round tube is putting the young kids on the tube or the ones you don't like

Those are some good toys you bought. Go easy with the tubes if your children are young. Especially when doing the turns because it's amazing how much faster the tube gets going aroung those turns. Have fun with your new toys.
Kind regards, Brian.

We bought a two-person very stable tube with a cockpit for our, and friends, younger kids to enjoy. It was about thirty seconds going conservative with a 5 and 7 year old, before they kept giving me the thumbs up for faster, faster, faster. I wouldn't go past 25 with 'em. Man did they sure have fun! The smile was stuck on their faces the rest of the day.

I'm going to buy a pair of skis and/or a wakeboard this year. I'm now leaning toward the wakeboard first, which sounds like it would be more fun. But then again, I'm not too sure how the wives and friends may like it... Thanks for the info Wesley, I'll look into that board and dvd.

I looked at the wakeboards, but we dont have the tower. Do you need one, or is it just so you can get more air, and do more tricks? I learned how to ski behind a pontoon with a 50HP. It drug you under water for like 15-20 sec. before it got up enough speed to pull you up. As far as kids, my son is way too young for the tube, but I do have neices and nephews that will enjoy it, so I got a big one so an adult could ride with them.

I understand but our rule is you must be 5 years old to be pulled by the boat on anything. The key is to get them comfortable with the tube prior to pulling it with the boat. What we did is have our two nephews ride on the tube by the dock for a couple of hours with us pulling them by hand and turning it over a couple of times to show them what it is like to fall off. Once they were comfortable with it we took them out. We always keep it pretty slow but I will do figure 8's and let them roll over the waves which they love. And then thow them off gently. Oh yeah the other rule if one of them falls off they both have to go off and swim to each other. They are really good about it, one it makes them more comfortable and two we do not have to figure out which one we need to get to first. Also if you are pulling kids make sure you get in a quiet cove where you do not have to worry about alot of other boaters buzzing around.

The tower is just for more air (tricks), personally I do not think you need one; if I had purchased a boat with one would I use it, yes. The tower is mainly used for getting the rope higher for tricks but as far as being able to do it without it; I have not realized a problem. I read earlier on the board about feeling like you were being pulled down but to me it is no different than it is skiing.

You will not regret it once you try it. Now if I could only get better at it. :smt021

I was a little concerned about not having a tower for wakeboarding also, but have found it is no problem getting up. Now the 'tricks' part of it might be a lil different but at 53 years young I'm not quite as adventourus and it will be a few years before the grand kids are as well too. I knew neither how to ski or wakeboard, after trying both I'm sticking to wakeboarding for now. Plus with the wakeboard you can go at slower speeds too. (And we bought a DVD series as Wes suggested and made it very simple to understand the basics)

Wesley..................... can that Hot Dog thingee be fun for older kids like a tube is? Can you swing it out in a turn?

Dave we personally love it. Yes it works just like the tube as far as slinging it. You can sit on it like a bull or lay down. It is alot of fun.
