Bought a 2001 310DA Today!!

Thanks everyone! It will be the longest 2 weeks ever!!! Davefin, did you ever have the water ingestion problems?? The engines in this new boat were completely replaced in 07, so I should be good to go!! Bring on spring!

You bought a great boat from a great guy! - That boat is at my Marina! - Let me know exactly when you're comming - I'll help you celebrate!

Congrats!

I bought the same boat ('01 310) about 6 weeks ago. Undergoing some aesthetic and electronic updates while we wait for the ice to clear.

Hey DoIt, thanks for the words of encouragement. We should be down there around the 10th, would be great to share a cold beverage.

I'm curious about the re-power in 2007. Did they explain why they replaced the engines after only 5-1/2 years and with only 280 hours? Seems like pretty expensive preventative maintenance for a boat with no problems (quoting the ad).

They were replaced because of water ingestion. The first sign was rust on the plugs, that led to a compression test and the rest is history. I received the service records today with all the replacement information. Mercruiser replaced both engines. Whatever, it is fixed, I have basically new engines(60hrs) and all the problems should be fixed. Sea trial this past sunday went great.

capecodcruiser,

When I bought the 2001 310 new I knew about the water injestion problem and made sure that this boat was equipped with the new updated exhaust system. Therefore, no mfg issues. I do routine mantenance check (two seasons) on the risers and manifolds to insure that they are good as mine is a raw water cooled boat.

Isn't there someone else on CSR with the same name on his boat or is this that boat?

You got a great deal on a great boat. A wonderful choice for a day ride or a month trip. We got our 1999 six years ago with 55 hrs on replacement engines & exhaust (raw water cooled), and have 450 on them now. The invoices for that job were around $45k. Treat it well and enjoy it.

Welcome to the 310 DA club. It is a very managable boat and lots of fun without too much overhead.

Love mine.

Ron, Yes we are looking forward to a great season. It is classic though. The ad says the boat is meticulously maintained. Come to find out, he doesn't even know what the raw water impellers are, has NEVER changed it on the generator and the has no idea what has been done to the transmissions(oil/filter). I'm not going to bash the previous owner, just interesting what "meticulously" maintained means to some people. I am having all of those little things fixed before we bring her home. It will be about a 4 hour ride for us to get it back to our home port so that should be a good shake down cruise! And the best part is I didn't pay anywhere near the price in the advertisement!

I just looked at your reply and noticed that I made a big typo in my post. The invoices for re-powering were $15K (not $45k). Searay or Marine Max did cover it on the owner's extended warranty.

To some people, "meticulously" means a neat handwriting on the checks.
