bottom paint

I got a good start with a pressure washer but then the fun was over and the rest of the job was just brutal. I used a combination of sanding, stripper, scraping - I found no method to be the easy way. Pray the pressure washer gets most of it.

I think you can have it media blasted also... Walnut shell blast works good from what I've been told. It's just a bit on the high side $$$

I've used walnut shells which produces some voids that require faring. That was about 15years ago and at the time was felt to be gentler than sand which is not recommended any more in our area. If I was doing it today, I'd go with baking soda. It's about as environmentally friendly as you can get given you are blasting away at toxins. It is felt to be easier on the boat's bottom. This is a job that is best left to people who have done this before and have a reputation for good outcomes.

Yeah, yeah... baking soda, that was it... The walnut shell media was for some aluminum parts that I had to get cleaned up.

Baking soda? As in "washing with baking soda", or is that "Sand blast with baking soda".

Also. . is that for all marine paint, or just the ablative stuff?

Yes. Baking soda, like Arm and Hammer. I think it works on all paints as it is under high pressure. Use a vendor who has done it and has a good track record. Ask for references.
