I purchased a new 2008 260 Sundancer in July. I was not aware it required bottom paint. Now it is the end of September and I am going to store it for the winter. Do I need to clean the bottom of the boat now and paint it before storage or do it in the spring?

Well, it doesn't "require" bottom paint. Depends on how you are using it.

But, clean it now as it will be easier than if everything dries on real good. It doesn't really matter if you paint in now or in the Spring.

Thanks.
I use the boat in the upper Mississippi just for leisure.
The marina said they need to acid wash it for $25 per foot and that if it was painted with bottom paint it would just be a power wash. Will it be that bad since it’s only been in the water since the end of July? Or could I do it myself?

I assume you keep it in the water?

You can certainly clean it yourself, regardless of how bad it is. My recommendation for a product would be Slimy Grimy.

Bottom paint is an expense and a yearly/maybe bi-yearly maintenance item. It all depends on the water you're in... or more importantly, it all depends on what is "in" the water.
