On every single pic, diagram, etc. that I have been able to find the starter slave solenoid has a ground wire that is black. On both of my motors I have a yellow wire with a black stripe where the black ground wire should be. Has anyone else seen this? The boat is a 1995 290 Sundancer. The engine / drives are 2002 models.

The only reason I ask is... I just bought the boat for a song and dance, however the previous owner literally cut almost all wiring in the boat trying to troubleshoot a genset issue.

I am rewiring everything, but ran into this odd colored wiring on the slave solenoids and wanted to make sure it was correct before trying to start these engines. Since it is on both engines, it definitely appears to be factory wiring.

they make those solenoids both ways where you need to ground them and the ones that are internally grounded from the mounting screws. my 95 290 solenoids have two control wires, one black and one yellow/black strip from key, on that solenoid it doesn't matter which terminal ( small ones ) the wires go one as one wire does the grounding other is hot side. Those two wires energize the coil.
