I have gone through a couple of RIB for tenders and just don't like them. I am thinking of an 11 foot Boston Whaler instead. Anyone have experience with that?

Thanks

Be careful standing up in one becasue you may end up in the drink!

I owned one a very short time...........was pretty unstable and heavy as lead. I came to the conclusion that a you can either be a boat or a dinghy but not both. I now use a Zodiac hard air floor inflatable and a 15 ft. Whaler Dauntless. I can lay the Zodiac on the platform for long trips and I tow the Whaler locally if we need both boats for the day.

Have a look at these

I have seen them close up and talked to the owners. They all liked them said they felt secure.
I am thinking of getting one.
They seem the next best thing to an inflatable.

My son bought an old beat up 22 foot McKee Craft about 3 years ago. he worked on it for a year and made it look new. We tow it to the Bahamas and it works great. However, I need a better tender than I currently have. I looked at the Rigid Boats, what a great idea, just to expensive right now. Oh well, I'll keep looking.

13 foot whaler is not a bad choice. Much more stable than the 11. We used to run ours in big seas on Lake Michigan if there was an on shore breeze. Also a quick little boat with a 40HP motor.

I like my RIB tender...

I bought a Boston Wheeler 13' 130 sport 2005(6 hrs)with a merc. 40hp. We love it! The quality is superb and we like its devotion to simplicity. You do have to be aware of weight distribution. We have a nice Bimini, trailer, VFH, stereo, fish finder and a cup holder!
Happy hunting,

I have Mercury Ocean Runner RIB tender w/ center console and can also vouch for dry ride in rough seas. We run often side by side w/ a few 13 Whalers and they do not fair as well. The 13 w/ the 40 merc is also very heavy for transome type davit.

I think I found a nice tender. It is 11' long, all fiberglass, tri-hull design, 60 inches wide, 2 built in bench seats and will handle 5 people. Once I clean it up, I'll take pics and post them
