After four months of boating, which i love and i also missing alot of golfing. does anyone have a floating golf net and balls? is it possible?

When I want to go boating I just take the boat to the Ginn Resort in Palm Coast and make a tee time for early Sat morning. Golf, then come back to boat to start on the cocktails.

thank god we dont start the cocktails prior to golfing or i would never go! thinking of designing a net of the stern and hit off the deck! what you think

Golf? I'd rather have a root canal without anesthesia. But I think I'll just go boating instead of either. Anyway golf is overrated. I had a sales VP who always said, "No one ever closed a deal on a golf course." So it's pointless as well.

Seriously, if you are a dedicated boater how in the world can you both golf and boat? I find people may be one or the other but rarely both.

I play golf when I need to work on my profanity  So far this year I havn't picked up a club.

We brought our clubs on a boat to AC and to a cab to a course... Also, you can get biodegradable balls that you can hit off your bow... Aim at the sail boats, and pretend their masts are the flags for the holes...

Your sales VP was a dumb ass, no offense. I hope your livelyhood didn't depend on him, cause if that's what he thought he was missing out on a lot of deals.:smt009

I have had to choose between non-business golf and boating. Boating won. But I still play golf for business.

I've sold millions of dollars of various types of computer software and hardware. Never saw a deal close on a golf course or because of a golf outing. Never. No one makes a million dollar spend because of golf. Heck they don't even make a low end buy of a POC for a measly 50 grand on the golf course.

Well, your mileage may vary. I don't know jack squat about the softeware industry, so I won't comment on that. I have seen, and been part of, multi-million dollar deals that closed on the golf course - supplier agreements, sales of companies etc. Obviously no contracts were signed, just terms agreed to, so one could argue that the deals technically didn't close on the course. And to be clear, I never said any of this happened because of golf. Golf was just a part of it, just like going to dinner after a meeting and deciding to do business with someone because you find you have similar interests and beliefs.

But I love golf, so if I know someone plays I'll suggest we combine golf and our meeting. You obviously hate golf, Frank, so I would be more surprised if you did have a deal close on the course.:smt009

 I dont know, maybe it's regional or your specific industry (ie nerds ). I have closed some deals on the golf course, and know quite a few salespeople in other industries around here that use golf as a way to spend a day closing deals.

As well, taking existing clients out for a day on the course solidifies relationships for long term success.

Just seems to work quite often around here.

Seems like you would have a bigger boat.

Lets fix this for you  :smt043:smt043

I am all for "Boating in the Gulf." :smt038

I have done a few deals on the golf course.. and also not gone into a couple of partnerships because of a guys play.. cheating mofo... if you can't play by the rules I'm not expecting you to do business by the rules...

I use to be a single digit handicap but I have gladly given that # up. An occasional outing is just fine on the course..Taking the driver and a dozen balls and trying to hit across the cove is more fun now.
