Hi all...just had engine block replaced along with starter. 2003 26da. Picked it up at the mechanic yesterday. Didn’t start initially but then put in neutral and got it to start. Drove to my marina...all seemed fine. As I was docking it stalled out and haven’t been able to start it again. Turns over but doesn’t fire. Mechanic looked at it last night and said a sensor might have gone bad? He checked most of them (said he had to look at the wiring diagram to see if he missed any). Any thoughts on other reasons why it’s not starting? Had gas treated over the winter so it’s not a fuel issue. Thanks in advance.

check the fuses in the engine wire harness for fuel pump and ecm

Thank you...not too mechanical here. Where are those fuses located?

on my 350mpi engine they are under a plastic cover built into the wire harness next to the relays on top of the engine

"Didn’t start initially but then put in neutral and got it to start" Does that mean you tried to start it in gear? That's the reason it didn't initially start.

The most common sensor to fail on your engine (which will be an MPI engine) to cause a no start would be the IAC - if you advance the

Thanks the mechanic said they are looking for bad 5 volt sensor?

Most of the sensors have a 5 volt reference voltage, and if shorted to ground it won't start, you could i believe unplug the iac and if none of the fuses i mentioned are blown, it should start as the iac is an idle control valve

I have a 98 5.0 efi. I have 3 fuses under the metal cover connected to the riser. ( see pic ) i know that is where my fuel pump fuse is. Not sure if it helps.

Thanks everyone. Turns out the crimped a wire when they dropped the engine in.

Must be an illusion. But then even with a 7.4 I can sit on either side while working. That just looks so tight.
I initially thought you were referring to the OP's boat.

Yes, twin engine boats in narrower beam boats can be challenging. Much is done by feel, only.

I did the plugs when i changed the manifolds and risers 2 years ago. And that picture is to spec. They are jammed in tight. You need to be 80 lbs or a acrobat to work on these. I am just about 2 inches to short to touch the bilge pumps. Its a mother

And thats just the motor hatch. It has 2 other side hatches that can be removed. Just need to pull the metal floor suports to have complete access to everything. Worst part is the genny. They really stuffed that bitch in tight
