Boat trailer rollers vs bunker

Then you will never be able to trailer, launch, and retrieve a 270 DA. LOL

MM
Back in the day, when EzLoaders were first popular, they made relatively large trailers equipped with a gazillion rollers. I just looked up an old catalog from 1983, and their 10,000 pound tri-axle model for a 27-28 footer was equipped with 136 rollers. That's only 74 # per roller, which even exceeds MY requirements.

Anywhoot, an acquaintance of mine used to launch with us on Sundays with a similar rig and his effort was as easy as mine.

I realize that salt water maintenance, etc, etc. has made those types of trailers virtually obsolete these days, and bunkers have become the norm. But not to say that its not possible...

I agree... for a 260 I had rollers up front and bunks in the back. That way you could winch it up with the stern floating then pull the trailer out and have the bunks support all the weight...it worked really well.....just so you didnt have to power up the trailer bunks...which alot of ramps frown on... here is a pic of what I am talking about

No I bought the trailer that way….. easily changed though ….good luck with your trailer

People often buy used, and get what they get, or what the dealer says they need.

Some have all bunks and have issues. They were never trained.

Go to the launch ramp. Guys with bunks can't unload until they back in until their gonads are under water. Same for guys with rollers.

Guys with rollers back in to gonads and then complain because the boat is crooked. Same for guys with bunks.

I started trailer boating in 1968. Back then we had a library (remember those) and I found a book that told me how to launch. Works even to this day.

This debate will go on forever. I know what works for me and I follow that procedure. If you have my type trailer and don't follow the "rules", it won't work for you.

Go to the ramp with a sixpack and watch. You might learn something. In the meantime, don't say one or the other is best.
