Boat Survey Questions- need some help

Hello Boys (girls if you are present)

Well, thanks for all your info on the purchase of my new boat. A 1999 270 Sundancer SE. We agreed on price and I just got my survey back. The areas of concern were, 1. There are 2 areas on the port stringer under the aft quarters where the fiberglass has pulled loose from the core and is cracked. This area can be re fibreglassed secure and is very accesible/ The other area of concern is that they said that there is a fair amount of lateral play in the sterndrive.

Can you guys give me some insight on these areas. They are my concerns before I sign the deal.

Guess the next question would be why? Is the steering issue something that is from normal wear and tear or abuse.

Anything involving the hull is a concern for me. I would like to know how long it has been like that, did the present owner hit something and try to cover it up, or is it something that can be linked back to production.

I would first get estimates on the repais then renegotiate your deal. There are planty of boats available for great prices so why settle?
