Went to marina at noon to pump out zodiac. Saw this. 370 Sundancer, late 80s. Was a nice boat. I was told he had no canvas up and bilge pumps failed. Pics are when the salvage company got it about half floated with pumps and air bags.

Oh crap that sucks.

If I didn't have a covered slip ... mine would be covered every time I left.

I hate to see nice older boats with torn up upholstery knowing that having it refurb probably cost more then the boat.

Oh man, you have some serious drama and happenings at your marina. Nothing interesting happens here

Its a floating trailer park. It was one thing to see a massive pump shooting water out the cockpit. But it really sucked to see another pump thru a bow hatch shooting water out the cabin like a fire hose. Never seen a boat actually sink before.

Just got back from marina. That boat is on land. Will be heading to the crusher. Bottom loaded with barnacles. He was told last year his batteries needed to be replaced. Didnt do it.
Also, this boat had a fire 2 years ago, insurance paid that fix. Heard they may not pay on this claim.
Dont feel sorry for him, he brought this on himself.

Check this one out... happened a couple weekends ago at our lake.

You may have seen my discussions about boat in or out for winter. Seeing this convinced me it’s coming out.
Me too. This is one reason I sold the 34 Rinker (37' overall) although not the only reason. I always rung my hands of the damn thing sinking while I was away from it for more than 2 weeks at a time. Particularly after the marina put in those thru hull cooling pick ups on the bottom of the hull. I was in a covered slip but still worried. On Lake Washington the water levels change summer to winter by as much as 3 feet and the docks are fixed. I cant tell you how many lines I loosened for other boaters during December to April when the water levels rise on top of torrential rains. So now I have a 270 DA on a trailer. Only worry about sinking when I am on it now, Doh!

The wife likes to say, i love her, ANY inclement weather we are at the boat to check it. Problems occur on boats that left alone. Then we lucky, 15 mins from marina. I cant imagine how those that live hours away do it.

Funny how these things tend to cluster around winter storage time.

I'm always sad to see a boat sunk and sent to be crushed due to neglect by their owner. Batteries and bilge pump.....not putting up canvas makes me think he just didn't care.

Over the years I see boat owners in four stages:

Obsessed -money/time isn't a problem
In love- wants a equal long lasting relationship where there is understanding and appreciation
In love redux- wants an equal long lasting relationship with a bigger boat but appreciates the one they have.
Divorce- doesn't give a crap about the boat and won't spend a dime on it to stop it from sinking.

I complain about my marina because there is no water there. It is so shallow that I have to bow in. That's not bad as this way if we are having dinner on the boat, we don't have to chat with everyone that walks by. Seeing this photo, God forbid, I could sit on the bottom at high tide and still not get my engine pans wet> I won't complain anymore!!
