They had the right survival gear for the area. The recording of the mayday call was interesting.

It will be interesting to see what the cause was. My fishing grounds...............

AkBassKing, when I lived in AK (1970-74) we fished out of Whittier and that area of the Sound. Nice country up there.

It is still nice. You can drive to Whittier now through the train tunnel. Whittier probably hasn't changed much since you were there. They are still anti-development. Our nickname for them are Whittidiots.....

Plan to take my SR up to Whittier in a few years....

Good thing they had the right ditch gear. I guess up there you do not want to be without thermal suits and a liferaft. Those waters have to be cold.
